This is mostly about a PSP, but while I'm making the topic... I found out the Dell deal expired yesterday when it said at the end of April, but I'd like to get the PSP as soon as possible since I'm babysitting and it'll help pass time, so I don't know how long until the next Dell 20% off deal will happen. Are there any other deals anywhere on them? I'm not interested in the 3000 series, since I like to play with homebrew and I'd really like the emulators. As for PS3, it probably won't matter too much... I signed up for the credit card, although I don't know if I'm approved or not yet. I also get 10% off at Walmart, so deals might be hard to beat. I might as well try though, eh?

I got a PSP 2000 black in perfect condition I'd sell it to you for $110 shipped. If you are interested send me a PM and I'll tell you more about it.

As a note, even PSP-2000s can apparently not work with homebrew, depending on which batch it is (that is, the more recent ones don't work). So your best bet is probably buying one that someone already has running custom firmware.

Uh, not sure if they make 2000s anymore, but I know even the 3000 is easy to crack thanks to a certain game. I doubt the 2000 would be anymore difficult since Sony went out of their way to make the 3000's board harder to get into. Too bad buffer overflows seem to make this irrelevant.

I'd go on but I'm sure this is way too gray now.

I already know which 2000 it is that isn't hackable. It was made last summer/fall. The 2000 PSPs still available should hopefully be the newer ones released. They're hackable.

I just read up on that hacking method, Grip Shift (PAL). I didn't remember reading that. Interesting. But I'd still rather try to get my hands on a 2000 model that doesn't have the TA-88v3 so it's less complicated.

Just so you know, I have a red PSP (God of War pack), and I was able to put Custom Firmware on it just fine. Granted, this was back when the only way to do it was with the use of a Pandora battery.

As for deals, Wal-mart would be your main place since you seem strapped for time. Otherwise, I'd wait and see if another Dell coupon popped up. On a side note, you can try and see if any of your local Radioshacks has one on clearance. YMMV on that though.

Well, this thread helped me in a different way than I planned :p TJF reminded me that I could buy a used one that already has hacked firmware on it, saving me a bit of trouble and money. The one I got off of Craigslist is in very good condition. The games it came with aren't really my thing, but hopefully I can sell those to make some of the lost profit I made buying a "bundle" like this.
