Finally decided to go ahead and get one, hopefully at the end of this week. Before I do, I was wondering if there were any worthwhile deals current or coming up real soon (this month) on the system or games? I can only buy in-store though, nothing online.

I'm planning on picking up two games for sure to start off with.. Super Mario 64 DS & Trauma Center. Any other recommendations on games/stuff I might want to look into now or later?

Thanks.

Toys R Us is supposedly having a B2G1 on DS games. The week of June 24th, instore.

Hope that helps

As for games:
Etrian Odyssey for a hardcore RPG
Pokemon for an Adictive, Fun RPG
New Super Mario Bros for a good Platformer
Puzzle Quest, Planet Puzzle League are both good puzzlers
Pheonix Wright for a good laugh and some fun
Jump Ultimate and Super Stars (Import) for good anime fighting

Way to many to list lol

If you like Castlevania, both are good. The GBA ones are good too if you haven't played those.

I've been playing Tetris DS for over a year now. Wi-Fi gives it endless replay value.

Phoenix Wright is fun too.

Trauma Center was only frustrating for me. I stopped playing it because I could tell it wasn't going to get any better.

I'd wait a few weeks, usually Circuit City has a special where you buy a new ds lite and you get something free. Sometimes its a game and sometimes is a case.

Definately get Phoenix Wright, Advance Wars DS, and Mario Kart DS eventually. And as stated above, Circuit City has deals like every other week for a free case with the system.

So many games...but I'd say definitely get Pokemon Pearl or Diamond, New SMB and Advance wars DS..and ya theres way more too. Phoenix Wright isn't really that exciting for me, sadly...and if you like more actiony games like super mario 64 and trauma center I think you'd enjoy the 3 mentioned above for sure (especially the first two mentioned)

For the week of 6/10-6/16, speedy's CC thread says: GAMERS: Get a Free case with the purchase of any Nintendo DS Lite gaming system // Case is ALS NDSL80 // Case value = $9.99

Trauma Center makes excellent use of the stylus and I think it's pretty fun. But, I did have to stop playing a few times because I agree with mrchainsaw that it can get frustrating. YMMV, but some Targets have clearanced Super Mario 64 DS for $7.48. DCPI# is 207020054.

Others might argue about this, but I would get some Hori screen protectors. There is also a $5-off coupon for any DS game at BB in Video Game Deals.

Both Ace Attorney (Phoenix Wright) and Castlevania games are essential for any DS owner. And if you like Ace Attorney, Hotel Dusk would probably be enjoyable as well. Advance Wars DS is definitely worth picking up if you like strategy games. Kirby Canvas Curse is pretty good too.

Pheonix Wright is $20 right now at Gamestop, so I'd go get it before the sale ends.

Puzzle Quest is one of the best games I've played on the system. The only way they could make it more addictive was if it was soaked in heroin.

I don't ever hear people mention it, but I loved Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam. If you've liked any previous games in the series, it's a lot of fun, more of an arcade-style racer.

And, as everyone else has said, you can't go wrong with Castlevania.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I got my DS Lite Friday night, along with Super Mario 64, Trauma Center: Under the Knife, New Super Mario Bros, Pokemon Diamond, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin and Resident Evil: Deadly Silence (what can I say, I liked the old RE games).

Really loving it so far! Hope to pick up some others later down the road, but this is enough for now, I think. =]

I'd say the two truly must own games for the DS are Mario Kart and Elite Beat Agents. There's a lot of other really great games out there depending on your tastes, but those two are games that everyone should play in my opinion.

Sound like some good games! I really enjoyed Mario & Luigi 2 (or whatever it's subtitle is). Actually my favorite "Mario RPG" type game since the original Square game.

Haven't heard of any this week. Seems like Toys R Us runs a deal from time to time. I picked mine up with I think Brain Age and Big Brain Academy in a bundle for $150 from them last year. Turns out I don't actually like those types of "games", but technically it was a solid deal.

I don't remember them doing one recently, but I'd just keep checking the Sunday ads each week, and the Toy's R Us ad in particular.

It seems like Circuit City might have been offering SOMETHING with both the DS Lite and Playstation Portable recently-like a free $20 game or something, but I don't think that was this week. Toy's R Us seems to be the most aggressive with bundles, which is cool.
Has anyone tried children of mana? Its got some good reviews but Ive yet to try it.
It's a pretty worthless game unless you've got someone to play with. It's better then most of the console Mana stuff in the past ten years, but that's not saying much.

I would rank Phoenix Wright 1 and Castlevania: Dawn Of Sorrow among my top 10 games of all time, for any system. You'd have to be stupid to have a DS and not get those, even if they were still $30-35.

As a former huge Mana fan, I recommend you pass on it. It's better playing with a friend, but then the game lags. Very average action-RPG. I'd recomment Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime instead.

I'm playing Children of Mana right now (single player). And...yeah, it's VERY shallow and repetitive. I wouldn't buy it again. And yeah, it dose seem better than the other Mana games since the second one, but even still...

Phoenix Wright you have to be a PC style adventure game fan to fully enjoy. I'm not, and I did have fun with it, but I really just wanted it to end by midway through the third case. Finishing the last three cases bordered on work for me.
