Question about Amazon.com Rewards Visa

CAGiversary!
So I was just about to pre-order SvR10 today so that I can get the $10 card for my next purchase. I noticed I can get $30 off if I sign up for the rewards card. Has anyone done this? Are there any catches? Could I just cancel it after I get it? I personally wouldn't ever use it.. Just curious for the $30 off.

I did two years ago and got my $30 off credit. I still use the card to this day. I would assume you could cancel it but I always heard canceling credit cards weren't good for your credit score.

I've had my Rewards Visa for about 2 yrs now. If you are a usual customer of Amazon I recommend it. You get 3 pts for every $1 spent on Amazon. It takes 2500 pts to receive a $25 Amazon GC

There would no reason to cancel it. The card doesn't have any annual fee and having more available credit is always good for your credit score. And yeah, as others have said, if you're a frequent Amazon customer, the points can rack up fairly quickly. Between my Amazon purchases and everyday stuff, like gas and food, I get a $25 certificate every couple of months.

I loved this card when I first had it, as I frequently bought stuff from Amazon which got me $25 gift cert every few months. Although they raised the interest rate multiple times on me and finally one day when I was at chase I paid the card off and closed the account. I'm not sure if it was just me they were raising it on or what, but I decided to use a different card as my main one as I dont really have the money to buy stuff from amazon all the time anymore.

Just ordered my card a week ago, and have already used it for many purchases. Being a huge amazon buyer/spender makes it a no brainer. Great deal all the way around...

One of the best cards ever. For those of you who don't want to do math, you basically get 1% and 3% back of what you use in Amazon Gift Cards (if you choose the gift cards as a reward). 1% anywhere off Amazon and 3% for any purchase on Amazon. I look at it as getting 3% cash back because using an Amazon gift card saves me that money.

Also, I recently had my card "upgraded," and you get 2 points for gas, dining, and drugstore purchases. I'm guessing that is gonna go into effect for all users.

I dont' have any credit, maybe even bad credit( doubt that though) whats teh chances of me getting on this program?

Have you ever had any credit cards you didn't pay? Or loans? Or owe a company money? If not, you shouldn't have bad credit. If you have no credit history at all, your scores will be low, but not too low to get approved for a card like this. I got it when I was in school, and I had almost no credit history. Same with my sister more recently.

Alright, I should go try it then. and no i don't have any credit cards, i've tried and get denied. I don't/won't go on a spending spree i just need to build some damn credit!!

What kind of cards have you been denied for in the past? Some cards have really good benefits, like no APR for a long time or easily accumulated points, and you need a really strong credit history to get one. Like I said, though, you should be able get one of these without having any credit history.

This is a great card! I use it for everything and the points really rack up quickly, especially if you buy a lot of stuff on Amazon. (Just don't carry a balance on it, but you knew that... hopefully...) One thing they just changed is that you no longer automatically get Amazon gift certificates as rewards, there are different reward choices and you have to go to the website to spend the points on what you want.

The only thing I don't like about this card is that your gift cards come in the mail. There's no way to get a code emailed to you or any sort of tie in to automatically redeem your points through Amazon.

I love the card, it's my primary Visa and I use it to pay for almost everything. I definitely agree about the codes being mailed being annoying, but its a minor inconvenience.

I picked up one of these cards around Black Friday last year, when they were offering $30 back on the first purchase and double points on all purchases until the end of the year. Used it to pick up my 52" Sony TV, so it was 6% cash back on that purchase and everything else I picked up during BF. Ended up being a nice bonus a month later, all told.

The APR being high right now is a bit of a PITA, especially since it's gone up 3-4 times in the last six months. Only an issue if you're carrying a balance from month to month.

The 3% back for Amazon purchases is a nice touch, especially if you do a lot of shopping at Amazon.

I have one. The card sits in my safe and i just have it linked up to my Amazon account. I have auto-pay turned on from the Chase side, so i don't need to worry about the APR business.
Wind up getting the $25 gift certs once in a while so works out for me.
They gave me WAAY too much credit on the card though, I don't need to buy a car on Amazon... - i had to go in and set the max on it manually so for my own security.

Yeah, the APR is super-high, so I obviously only use this for purchases that I intend to pay off immediately. I have another, low-APR card for any balances I might need to carry for a bit.
