Question about broke 360

Island Dog

CAGiversary!
Well my Xbox 360 got the E71 error, and MS says since it's out of warranty it will cost $99 to fix. I'm just not sure whether to pay this, or just buy a brand new unit.

One of my questions is, is it possible to take the HD from my broke Xbox and stick onto say a Xbox 360 Arcade unit?

Thanks.

The Console and Hard Drive are two entirely separate pieces of hardware.
Just think of it as a really big memory card.
If your Hard Drive is not broken or damaged itself then yes it will work on any other 360 console.
No need to set up or sync or anything, it'll work instantly as if its on your old system.

If you pay the 99$ and sent it in for repair they will either sent you a different refub one or your same one back fixed.
But they do piss poor Temp fixes for the console and it will break again soon within a few months.
They throw in a new 1 year warranty afterwards but still it won't last long.

I would just sell your broken one as-is for a few bucks and get a new system because the new version (Falcons) do fair better then the old versions.

Yeah, I heard the repairs weren't very good at all. I guess the cheapest solution would be to get the Xbox Arcade and just stick my current HD on there.
