I have played and really liked Final Fantasy IV Advance and Final Fantasy V advance and I played Final Fantasy VI back in the day on my SNES (then called FFIII).

My question is how does Final Fantasy III DS compare to those games. I have heard bad things about it being to hard, too much level grinding ect...How is the difficulty compared to FF IV, V, and VI? Is it fun, do you recommend it?

I am thinking about trying to trade Elite Beat Agents to get FFIII because I beat Elite Beat Agents on the easy mode and enjoyed it, but have no desire to keep going on the next difficulty.

From what I've heard, FFIII is supposed to be good. I dunno though, seeing as I think every Final Fantasy nowadays is overrated. FFVI on SNES is my favorite RPG of all time. If you are dying for an RPG to play, I say try it. If you can wait, FFVI is coming out on GBA.

FFIII's battle system is more like FFI's and FFII's in that there's not active time battle thing. Each round you select what you want each character to do and they do it in order of agility or speed.

The level grind in my opinion wasn't as bad as people said, until the very end. Grinding job levels wasn't bad either, mostly because there's a trick to it.

The job system in this game isn't as cool as FFV's either. You can't carry over skills from one job to the other. The only thing your job permanently affects is your character's hp growth, so it's possible to not get 9999hp at level 99.

All in all I thought the game was great! Mastering jobs was fun, but pointless. I think I ended up killing 60-70 hours of my life with this game.

FFIII is a whole lot of grinding as far as I'm concerned... to the point where a lot of the game's fun is lost from the game.

It's a solid game if you like that, but it's not really my thing. The story is pretty weak, but it's an NES game. Not a whole lot of story there.

It's the best RPG on the DS, but that's not saying much. I'm having fun with it, but it's a little heavy on the grinding, even for me. If you like old-school JRPGs, you'd probably get your money's worth, just don't expect to be completely blown away.

What is this trick you speak of with the job level grinding?

Defend over and over again?

I found the game to be way to easy and somewhat boring.

Well, seeing as you bought and played the other FF's, I'd go for FFIII. I bought it, liked the whole nostalgia thing. It wasn't the best game in the world but it's the best Final Fantasy for the DS/GBA. That is, until FFVI Advance comes out.

I thought the game was just boring and moved insanely slow. Took it back and got V advance instead, really enjoying it.

just echoing what everyone else said: it's nothing special but it's not a bad game. it'll keep you busy for a while.

the updated graphics make the game a lot more enjoyable. My only complain is no save point. I know they are not in the original now but that was a long time ago.
