Question if this is safe or not...

Hey everyone! Hopefully can get some help here. I recently won an auction the other night and sent payment that was prompted by ebay through paypal. After that I contacted the seller telling them that I sent payment, but they replied that they hadn't received it. The seller later realized that the payment was sent to an old account and that he contacted ebay and that their instructions were for me to cancel the payment and send it to the new paypal account. I've made plenty of purchases in the past on ebay but seeing as this is the first time I've encountered this problem, I was wondering if it was safe? Sorry for the wall of text just being cautious.

tldr: payment sent to wrong account, asked to cancel and send to new account.
 
Buyer: Only send payment to the paypal account linked to their ebay account...

Seller: Only ship to the address linked to their ebay account...


Don't do it any other way or you might be scammed.
 
Well wait, it is safe sort of.
Cancel the payment with paypal and when that clears you can send it to the other account. However, I am not sure how you can have an "old paypal account" they should just log onto it and transfer the money to their bank account, it is their fault after all in the first place.
 
I went ahead and cancelled the order. Is there a way that they can make an invoice on the new account like the ones that get sent to me showing what I'm paying for? The seller has good feedback, I don't want to sound like I'm pushing it, but at the same time don't want to send my money off to a random account.
