RadioShack is apparently rebranding. Including what appears to be a relaunch of the website and a new hip Twitter account.

Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/The_Shack

Also, coming from the manager who works next door to me, they will also be taking returns for items bought at Circuit City before their bankruptcy. I don't know the full details, so I'd call and get full details on that.

Here's a pic of new mobile signage from my Twitpic: http://www.twitpic.com/cf54p

And there you have it.

lol well now its all hip and trendy sounding but its still full of the same nerdy stuff.id love to see data showing how something changing its name really boosted sales or appeal. now that i think about it im surprised they didnt go with "DA SHAK".

Circuit City wanted to be called "The City", then they went under.

I see the same in Radio Shack's future.

Pizza Hut seems to be rebranding themselves as The Hut but I would imagine they're in pretty good shape financially.

I surprised Radioshack is still around much less lasted longer than Circuit City... Oh yeah...

MonoPrice > RadioShack

Just go with what everyone thinks of when they think Radio Shack and name your store shit.

Or "The Shit". Wait... I see what you did there...

Fitting name considering soon they'll be all boarded up and closed, every store Ive ever been in has a crappy selection of overpriced junk. I seriously wonder how they've been able to stay in business this long as it is.
the shack sounds dumb.

is shaq gonna be their rep?
Do you really think they could afford Shaq?

Hello "The Shack", allow me to introduce you to my not so good friend, "The Hut"

Now please, change your name back like Pizza Hut did.

seems like a trend with failing businesses. First "The City" then "The Hut" and now this.

what's next? The Buster, The Donald's, The King, The Chipotle

Radio Shack lost its way a long time ago. The hobbyist market wouldn't be enough to support the chain, but selling overpriced electronics wasn't the answer either.

The Pizza Hut renaming is only for some locations, so I'm not sure how comparable it is.

As for "failing," Pizza Hut is owned by Yum Brands, a Fortune 500 company that also owns Taco Bell, KFC, and A&W. Since when have they been failing? :whistle2:s

This.

Anyone who has a need for capacitors, circuit boards, LED's, and project boxes is savy enough to get their stuff online for cheap from places like Monoprice.

Once every few years I will find myself needing a cable like that minute and will walk to a Radio Shack and gasp when I see that they want $20 for the cable.

I'll go home and order the same cable from Monoprice for .79c
