Ragnarok Odyssey $29.99(Vita) on Amazon
I think they are making another game that has the entirety of all the content of the first one in june.
hopefully by the time this hits in DEC the normal one will be 9.99

its an okay game... you dont level up you got to replay the same maps over and over and over to get the right cards and drops to upgrade your cards .

game goes from VERY EASY to insane hard (all chapter 9 is nuts ) defeat 100 Troll bosses there are no save points in the game (you can just save in town) meaning if you beat 99 bosses and lose to the final one its game over.

Had it beat it all the way to chapter 9 i think put around 40 hours into it... i would rebuy it at 10 its just too much of a time drag to pay more then that with my backlog

o and before you waste the extra cash the ME is not worth the extra money.... the guide is a joke (look at gamefaqs for drops the GUIDE SHows no drops)

I've been deciding whether or not to buy this game, I need more multiplayer goodness for my Vita. But thanks guys, I'll just wait till Ace gets released and drops in price a bit.

I'm just holding out till PSO2 gets released.

Thanks for the early warning. I just finished Chapter 4 so now I know I need to prepare for this. Great game though. It's my most played Vita game right now. As far as the new one goes, I'm not sure if I'll get it since it's just and updated version of the same game. Highly recommend it though.

yea forget what chapter it is i think 7-10 or 6-10 when you start taking on the main bosses ... you have to stay airborn and keep attacking only the back of this ones boss head case if you hit him in the face he will laser beam kill you and ground attacks only do like 5 to 10 hp of damage when the dude has like 100,000
but then the next chapter boss was a cakewalk .

it is a fun time waster but hate to go back and replay it cause how much time it takes ... i also heard its easier online with teams but i never took it online

I loved this game. I spent probably 60 hours playing it. It was a lot of fun, and being able to switch classes whenever I wanted was fantastic. The difficulty does take a dramatic spike after chapter 8, and that can get frustrating.

Overall this game is well worth $30.

I'm pretty good with the aerial moves. I played online a few times, and I really didn't care for it. The people were much higher levels than me so they ran through the level in four minutes or so. It was very laggy as well. I don't know if it was my connection or their connection. I'll probably just play the rest of the single player campaign on my own.

IMHO, Ragnarok Oddyssey was a HUGE let-down--don't waste $30 on it.

Based on the demo that came out yesterday, Soul Sacrifice should scratch your itch.

The US release of PSO2 has, unfortunately, been delayed into no-man's land at this point, so don't hold your breath... :headache:

I loved the demo of it, but I can understand how it could get old. This is easily one of the Vita games I'm most excited about, but $29.99 still seems high with the size of my backlog. $20 and it's an immediate pickup.

I feel the same. I might wait for $20 or lower. It just took a long time for this game to drop in price.

The connections seem to be fairly random. I could play one match with a terrible connection, drop out and rejoin their game again with perfect latency.

As for the giant walking boss (Hrungnir?), you've gotta break his shoulder things before you can smack him in the dome.

Thanks, with SS on the way. I'll definitely wait till it hits $15 or less.

Soul Sacrifice is freaking sweet, I downloaded it earlier today and really enjoyed it. It's like a fusion between PSO + MH. It'll definitely keep my occupied with my Vita.

I did hear about the delay :( sucks to hear. Same with Ryu Ga Gotoku 5. I still have faith it'll be released sooner or later. But If I don't hear squat this year, I'll probably import it.

I'd get it for PC, I played the beta with a localization patch. Thing is, knowing Sega and how they managed PSO/PSOBB/PSU on the PC with hackers going rampant everywhere, I think I'll stick to a portable/console version this time.

Does the difficulty have anything to do with IAP/DLC bull that all these Freemium games are using these days? It is made by GungHo after all. It wouldn't surprise me that bad design choices are creeping into paid games too. :\

I expected a more traditional RPG system, after playing the demo (which already felt repetitive and a little too button mashy) and realizing you don't level up or earn experience, I lost most interest.
Yes, it's called Ragnarock Odyssey Ace with all the DLC, new enemies and a new area. Here is an article.

thank you very much for this. I have a couple copies of the Mercenary edition and was thinking of snagging another when the price went down, but if theyre releasing a complete version later i wont do that. How much extra content is there anyway? Is it just a few extra costumes, or like whole story lines and stuff?

Hmm PSO is phantasy star online i guess, whats MH?

Ah ya thanks for reminding me i d.loaded the demo for Soul Sacrifice the other day, i totally forgot. I was surprised at how friggin big the d.load was, it was around 1.3 gigs or so if i remember, wtf!?

You might be waiting a looooooong time then. Ace's release just got put on hiatus. Who knows when it'll be out in Japan, and if/when it will get picked up for a western release.

As for my opinion with Ragnarok, I loved it! Never played a MonHun-style game before, but it's fun trying to accomplish the challenges and defeat the bosses. I enjoyed it for being a different sort of pace to most JRPGs.

Yeah with Soul Sacrifice around the corner(and/or if you're me and also buying Deadly Premonition: DC that same week),I dont see myself buying this just yet. Hopefully it'll be in a PSN sale in the future.

Nope, the only way you upgrade your stats is through equipment, making a huge part of the game looting and item creation through things you obtain via quests - at least that was the impression I had from my time with the demo, so please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

But from what I can tell there's no experience system or leveling up.

Wow, almost bought this the other day when picking up Pandora's Tower. Glad I waited now didn't know anything about there being a second release with all DLC.

You only level up when you complete a chapter. You can get new cards/ outfits and weapons to enhance your abilities. That's my only gripe about the game. It's still a ton of fun though. As others have mentioned you do have to grind for most of the items so you can upgrade your weapons and outfits. Another thing to note. You don't have to kill every monster in the level. Each mission gives you a certain amount of items you need so once you get them, you complete the quest. There's various parts where you're locked into an area, and have to defeat maybe 5 or 18 enemies to progress.

Whoops, my bad. MH -> Monster Hunter.

Yeah man, Soul Sacrifice is badass. Lengthy demo, but I don't think I have played a demo this much. Also remember, the demo save carries over to the retail game released on the 30th.

Shame, but I expect I'll be pretty occupied with Soul Sacrifice. To be honest, I barely even know about Ragnarok Odyssey, it just seemed like a PSO style game, which is why I wanted to try it. But after trying the demo for SS, damn... it's great, finally I'll be using the Vita for something. I'm just glad the Vita is getting it's share of co-op games.

how do you download the DEMO do you need a PSN account... i never took my VITA Online but think of doing it monday to down load the soul demo

I'd grab Monster Hunter Freedom Unite off of PSN instead of this POS.

I bought Ragnarok Odyssey on release day, being genuinely excited. All I got was a pretty hack and slash with a mediocre crafting system and an over-emphasis on looking adorable.

If you want to mindlessly commit genocide on the Orcish people, whilst wearing a hat with floppy cat ears or a bonnet covered in roses, this is the game for you!

I think this is a misconception based off peoples lack of understanding. Ragnarok Odyssey had a number of DLC missions / items / patches, which were included with the US and Asian version of the game. These missions form the "Extra" category and were WORLDS harder than anything in the story. Their difficulty was most likely a design choice for a few logical reasons.

1) Replayablity. A few missions had new items / weapons, which help make these missions doable.
2) Requires online. The base game never launched with online co op, so they probably made them more powerful to get people to use the feature.
3) Added depth to the game. You really didn't need a good build to kill Loki, so this forces you to get a better build. Much like the raid bosses in BL 2.
