Ratchet and Clank

CAGiversary!
What's going on everyone? I am interested in trying out one of the Ratchet and Clanks but I am just curious which is the best out of the 3 ps2 ones. I heard that Up Your Arsenal is the best, but I have no idea where I heard that. So I'm just wondering what everyone here on CAG feels about it. Thanks!

Up Your Arsenal and Going Commando are pretty similar, I don't think one is better than the other really. If you ever plan to play the first game do it first, once you go to GC or UYA you can't go back.

FYI, there are actually four R&C games on the PS2:

R&C
R&C: Going Commando
R&C: Up Your Arsenal
Ratchet: Deadlocked

and coming in February is the PS2 port of the PSP game R&C: Size Matters.

Play them in order. They're all fun. Up Your Arsenal was my favorite for gameplay, but I preferred the story in Going Commando. Deadlocked felt like the game had just been thrown together around the online play - that isn't to say that it isn't fun, it's just not R&C.

Ratchet and Clank 1 - I haven't played...

Ratchet and Clank 2 Going Commando - Very Very Long...

Ratchet and Clank 3 Up Your Arsenal - Probably best one

Ratchet Deadlocked - Little on the short side, other than that it was cool

Remember, don't bash me, these are my own opinions on the games that I have played!

In terms of fun, I order them 2, 3, 1. (never played Deadlocked). However, they are all worth playing, and in that case you really ought to play them in order: 1, 2, 3.

The biggest improvements from 1 to 2 and 3 (2 and 3 are pretty similar) are

a) game pauses while you use quick select for changing your weapon, which makes it much much easier

b) weapon upgrades, which changes how the weapons act and makes them more powerful

I liked the second one the best.

IMO after the first one they get very repetitive (humor and gameplay).

The immersive enviornments are pretty darn entertaining.

I'm playing through the first one right now, I have played the second one and my advise is to start with 1 and play through them that way because there are things you'll wish that the first one had that the later ones do.

Not to mention that if you have saves from the first one on your memory card, then you get some free weapons in the second one (and likewise from 2 to 3).
