Attention College Students!

Better check out this site before regestration rolls around again,
It has a lot of professors from tons of colleges

You can rate all of your professors and view ratings left by others...

It will serve you well, to make use of this site

I promoted it around campus (via flyers and stuff) and my school now has over a thosand ratings on over 100 professors.

I have nothing to gain from this post, I am just trying to help out any CAGers who want to cheap-ass their way through college.

I am a the moderator for my school, you can be the moderator for your
school if no one has picked it up yet.

for all of you highschoolies out there, I think there is a ratemyteachers.com for high schools, I just don't think it has caught on as much (mainly because it is not as useful as the college one) :(

Haha! Great idea! This would have helped me out a lot freshman year, luckily by the time I was a junior I had a good idea who was easy. The rating seemed pretty good too for a couple professors at UC Santa Cruz. A word of advice to anyone planning on going to UCSC take Liberman classes! That guy accounted for about 30 of my credits. I did 0 reading and showed up ocassionally when I was bored or to take tests.

EDIT: here he is in all his glory! http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=213662

I particularly liked this comment:
" did way too much acid-he'll tell you about the time he smoked out with the beatles. had some funny annectdotes and the TAs were totally hot. they had their own band and played music for us, class was boring, section optional never went to either:got an A+ "

Our school had a privately run professor rating site. I used it all the time to pick professors, worked great. I didn't necessarily go for the easiest just those that seemed reasonable, fun and were good overall teachers.

You know what I find funny about professors?

Many expensive colleges have a student:professor ratio of 400:1.

At my local community college it is 12:1.

[edit] corrected inverted statistics

I think you meant professor:student::1:400

wow this site is awesome, im gunna make some flyers and post them around my school to get the word out about it so we know to to schedule for and who not to. thanks OP!

Surprised to see that my school has a lot of professors listed since we've got our own in-house system that's actually promoted by the school (and the professors actually try to get a good rating), but here's my favorite and worst professors.

I only wish they had input for the higher-level class professors in my department; it seems they've only got up to sophomore level profs.

Thats cool, I didnt know there was one for profs, but I have seen a highschool teacher one somewhere, probably included profs too.

I heard about that site last year sometime from one of my professors. He was complaining about not having a red pepper by his name.
I like this site better than the www.pickaprof.com website I was using.
I actually prefer pickaprof because it gives you the percentage of people that drop and what percent of the class on average gets what grade.
pickaprof has a hella limited list it seems.
True. But it has my school as one ofthe listed schools, so that's all that matters to me.

Oh and I checked out ratemyteachers.com and I found my mom under her middle school. Seems some students have a grudge against her.

I'll bump this grave-yard thread for all the upcoming college freshmen or anyone else that is in college and needs to know what professors to take.
It's a great web site. I've been using it for the past two years to pick my teachers.. they even have a hotness rating.
same here.

^_^

I actually use this to narrow down my classes according to class times and professors for a few years now. Hahaha. Everyone who goes to school already knows about this site...especially at my school. Trust me, it's a godsend.

Same here.. everyone around here uses it.

I used this to pic my classes last year, made it so much better. Weeded out the bad ones. Every professor at york university seemed to be on there.

Though I wonder about the hotness rating, how an somewhat overweight, 50 year old teacher gets 2 or 3 "hot" ratings is beyond me.

I've used it for about 2 years now as well, quite helpful! It's funny when it says a guy teacher's hot, and you see him and think, "What the hell? THAT'S what a hot guy's supposed to look like to chicks?" The female teachers are usually rated fairly on hotness. But then again, there are other more important factors, ahem! ;)

I just checked my old high school on ratemyteachers.com (never had heard of it before). I was shocked to find out one of my old history teachers died last year, the last 2 rankings had RIP after it. It was always strange, he was very enthusiastic and appeared to be interesting, but gave the most boring lectures and class I've ever had (and it was an hour and a half, not 40 minutes like other schools). Nice guy and prepared you well, just was boring.

I've used this site for about two years now. It was the first link they gave me when I googled "professor ratings." I tried using another one, but they didn't have enough professors rated for my campus.

I looked around ratemyteacher.com. Nice resource. Some really funny ratings from my old teachers too.
