I know a few people here have RAZRs, so I figured I'd ask around.

I stopped by MetroPCS last week and the wife and I got new phones - the V3m. (MetroPCS is an expanding company that is only available in some markets at the moment. Besides being a "no contract," they have unlimited local and long distance for a price better than any of the other big companies even with my corporate discount.)

I'm not sure what features may have been locked down, but the sales person told me that it can play MP3s and you can transfer MP3s in and use them as ringtones. So I picked up the Motorola Phone Tools software and installed it on both mine and my wife's laptops. The problems is, I can't get any of it to work, neither by bluetooth or usb cable.

On my laptop, I can connect to the phone and (with extra drivers) recognize my phone as a v3m, but I can't do much else. On my wife's laptop, it only sees it as a BT modem and the MPT software can't see it at all.

I've done some research on teh intrawebs, but haven't had too much luck. So I was hoping some fellow CAGers might know of some resources they could point me to. Thanks!

What version of MPT do you have? I had to upgrade the copy I got off of eBay to 4.0 before it would work. There is a certain driver you have to download sometimes, I don't remember what it is. The forums there should be able to help you out.[/quote]

Thanks!

I do have vers 4. I have downloaded the driver for the v3m that I found on another forum, but I'll see if I can find something more compatable.

I know with all of the USB stuff I have available to me, sometimes when I try to use MPT or another program I won't discuss in public I have to point the computer to that driver again. Haven't used *** program in awhile, but when I did, it did.

Maybe it was p2k driver? I dunno.

Oh yeah, if you want to rebrand your phone, all the stuff like that is easily found online.
