I was recently gifted a copy of AC: Unity but I don't have an Xbox One. Everyone at work knows I'm a big fan of Assassin's Creed but I was looking forward to playing Rogue. Would any store exchange for credit or allow me to get Rogue?

Depends on where it was purchased from. If you could find out I'm fairly certain that most stores (Wal-Mart, Best Buy etc) will give cash back or store credit for a game without a receipt.

That's if it is not open. Swapping in am open game, without a receipt, is going to be tricky.

Your first bet would be to find out where it was purchased. Even if you can't, you could always go to customer service at the store you want to try it at and ask. Can't hurt to try.

Good luck my fellow CAG.

Or make a thread in the trading section of the forums and try to sell it here on CAG or try for a straight up trade. Although you could probably get Rouge and some thing(s) else for AC: Unity.

J Rokk is so wrong u can't get cash without a receipts u will get a store gift card

Go ask the person for the receipt and explain why you need it. Returning a game to a retailer it wasn't purchased at is return fraud.

Return fraud is illegal. I'm all for sticking it to large companies (target especially) that have it coming but breaking the law is wrong.
Is it fraud if the consumer explains to customer service that it was given to them as a gift? There's no deception in that situation.

Which is why you get a gift receipt in any and all cases, for situations like this and give it with the gift.

Even if someone says it's a "gift", they don't know if it's a gift or if it's stolen merchandise.

If the OP really wants to return the game, they should speak with the gift giver and work out the receipt scenario.
