Recording Question

So if I bought an external 1tb hard drive and set the output folder for my recordings to that, would my gameplay lag while playing or... Would you be able to see the lag on the recording?

I want to upload some games exclusive to the PC, not sure what recording software to use just yet. I'm thinking an external hard drive solving the problem of extreme lag with fraps might be too good to be true but I thought of checking just to be sure.

 
FRAPS still wrecks my FPS when recording, whether I have the files set to save to my main SSD, or my storage HDD.

If you have an nVidia GPU, Shadowplay is the definite way to go. It barely affects your performance, maybe 2-3 FPS.

 
Not sure if you'd notice any difference in lag... If I might make a suggestion though. Try open broadcast. Might work better for you. I never noticed any lag with either fraps or open broadcast. But, I do like the way open broadcast works more so. Plus it's free.
