Not sure if this has been discussed, but I recently picked up a used copy of Disgaea from EB off trade fodder. It plays fine but is fairly scratched up. What I'm wondering is, would it be better (assuming I put it on Ebay) to refinish it or leave it scratched up? Does refinishing it kill the price?

For that matter, I have it and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (ps2) available for trade. I suppose they're my only "rare" games...make an offer if you're interested.

well if you refinish it you could sell it as mint on ebay. So it might be worth it but i dont know how much its worth to refinish the game.

Well, since it is already scratched up, it sure as hell isn't mint or even in good condition, so I doubt that refinishing it would hurt anything. However, you want to make sure that it you get it refinished well, so as not to entirely fuck it up.

I have yet to see a resurfaced game that wasn't obvious that it had been resurfaced. Disgaea is a collectible game, and those in search of that game will want it in excellent/mint condition. Resurfacing it (or refinishing it as stated here) won't make it mint by a long shot. If you list it as mint and it isn't, you're just going to create problems for yourself on eBay with negative feedback, PayPal account holds/freezes and the like. If it is scratched, but plays fine, list it that way. You won't get top dollar, but at least you'll have a smooth transaction.

I just returned a bunch of used games I purchased from EB Games Online that were all obviously resurfaced. Two games out of 10 I ordered were keepers. The rest went back to the kitty.

Yeah, by no means do I plan to sell it as mint or anything, don't get me wrong, I was just curious as to which option I mentioned was better. I just figured resurfacing might kill the value of a collectible game?

If you pro resurface it you wan't tell a difference, if the person who does it knows what they are doing. It cost around $3-$4. I had Zero complains so far on ebay or any trading boards.

Gamecrazies are now provideing these services. If you dont have one near you, go to a local mom/pop shop that deals w/ buying used CD/DVD's and such. They should have a machine in the back or something. PS You might want to see an example of their work. Look for light swirl marks and such. Another thing, right on the inner rim, where the disc makes contact w/ the disc tray, it will NOT get resurfaced there, if it has scratches there, dont ebay it as mint, but "Resurfaced w/ no problems" . A real collector will notice that flaw immediately.

Good point. You can see it on PS1 games right away.

Quick thread-appropriate question for anyone who might know... Anyone have an experience using skippydisc.com ? I don't have anywhere around me that will resurface, so I'm curious if they are a viable option.
