Has anyone checked out the used ones? I might get one if they will let me check it out and turn it on first, but I am not sure if they will.

I've received 3 of them at my store in the past month. They are in pretty good condition actually. Only 1 came with some light scratches on the screen. Keep in mind you don't get a memory card.

Do you think they will allow me to look at the system and turn it on first? What are they packaged in? Plastic or just a box?

The memory card I dont care about, I can use the extra 50 bucks to buy a 512mb card or half way to a 1gb.

Same here - and if they come sealed there's no way to see if that unit has any dropped pixels? Sounds totally lame.
