Remote play and video output

Background:

With my current configuration, I have my 360 and PS3 upstairs on an LCD HD TV in my game room. On the ground level in our family room adjacent to the kitchen I have the Wii and our main Dish receiver hooked to an older HD CRT display. This downstairs room is where the family actually watches TV together. For the last year or so I've had my PC configured as a PVR . Anything recorded by the PC currently must be watched on either the PC or upstairs on the PS3 or 360 using a media server (currently we use Tversity).

My Question:

With today's amazon deal, I've finally decided to buy a PSP. My understanding from reading Sony's various firmware update notes is that my new PSP will be able to display music and video content (including media server content) from the PS3 using the Remote Play feature. My question is whether this content can be outputted through the A/V cables (which must be purchased separately) on the downstairs TV? In this manner can I use my PSP to display my media server content downstairs (through a remote play connection)?

Thanks in advance to any helpful replies.

EDIT: It arrived and I sprang for a cheap set of used cables. It works!
