I don't know if this is the place for it, but I'd just like to share my experience.
I've been wii bashing for the past few months, even after I played excite truck in ebgames. I just didn't like the direction nintendo took with the gamecube. It's really made me bitter towards the big N. The DS gave me hope though, a year after launch, ofcourse.
I came into alot of money after my ps3 sales so I figured i'd try a wii. I waited for 8 hours for the midnight launch at Walmart. While waiting I decided I'd go check out all the gamecube games i'd missed at EBgames, since I wouldn't touch the thing. I got Ikaruga and Eternal Darkness, (I'll steal the rest from my little bro). After having my debit card be rejected for an hour, I finally got my wii, zelda, extra controller/nunchuck and a VC controller.
Got home, and I have to say, I've never had that much fun opening the box. For those of you who got one, I think you know what I mean. I've also never had to read the instructions to use a game machine
. Got it set up and immediately tried to play Ikaruga.
Well, I don't own a GC controller (more raiding of my brothers closet I suppose) but I was 100% sure after talking to people in line that I could just use the VC controller instead. WRONG!
After being majorly dissappointted, I popped zelda in. Man, this game looks old. It's obvious that it spent most of its time on the GC. I don't mean character models or textures, just general detail. It's hard from going to the meticulous detail of Gears of War, and scope of Oblivion to this.
Then, I really stared playing it. Once I got my sword, I couldn't imagine playing zelda, or videogames any other way. It just feels right. So I apologize to anyone I've offended about the Wii, CAG officially has a convert.
