I want an HDTV, any type, tube, LCD, Plasma. Around 32 inch maybe smaller, for around 600 or under... I dont' want this dell deal cause its more of a monitor than a TV... I mean, its great and everything but I want a real TV with glass on the front... If anyone knows a good deal on something like this please please let me know.

Wow talk about asking for the impossible. Best Buy has a 26" strange brand tv for $449 it's available soon.

For $600, you won't a good brand name TV (Samsung, Panasonic, etc.) in store... You'll have to wait until a clearence or something.

If you can settle for something smaller, like 27", then you might find something.

Um... yeah, I know. That's why I said he'd have to look for one at clearence.:)

Looks like Sears might be a good place to look.

I saw the insignia myself not too long ago.. it looks comparable with the toshiba of the same size... but not sure how long it would last or anything like that... I appreciate the help guys I know this is something that is "impossible" but thats what this forum is here to do, find the impossible deals, am I right? otherwise why would I even post. I could go around and try to find deals myself, or I could use the knowlage of you guys as well as my own, its win win for everyone cause we might find good deals on these HDTV's together. Anyways the tubes seem to be the way to go as far as inexpensive... I wish I didn't have to go that way though but it looks like that might be my only choice. I didn't think of checking sears, but that seems like a good idea too. Basically I am looking for clearance items or something that is just an insane deal, 1 day sale item whatever. My budget is around 600 bucks so thats what I'm workin' with. I'd love to go all out and get a nice LCD or plasma for over 1000 but... I don't have that kinda money to spend. Thanks again for the help, lets see what we can find. I'll post what I find here too. Bestbuy seems to have some good TV's for around 599 (24inch I think)along with Circuit city had a samsung also 24inch for about 559 but it was an out of box display model. These are good, but obviously I'm looking for the perfect deal hah, so I figured I would check here.

If anyone finds out more info on this Insignia TV, let me know... what kind of company are they anywyas? seems like they came out of nowhere... and are only at Best Buy.
Best Buy has a Samsung 26" widescreen CRT for $615.99:

They also have an Insignia 26" widescreen CRT for $426.99:

I have no idea what kind of quality Insignia puts out, so buyer beware. You might want to do a bit of research beforehand if you choose that route.
Go with the 26" Samsung. I have that TV (got it for $585.99 from a PM at Circuit City) a couple of weeks ago. The TV is awesome and it has the built in tuner so you get your locals in HD.

CorranFox, I did a bit of research on the Insignia for you... Here's a post from waltchan over at the avsforum:

"The Insignia is Best Buy's own exclusive brand, and the 27" Insignias that you mentioned are made by Orion Electric Co. in Thailand. Orion is the maker of the low-cost Broksonic, Durabrand, Memorex, Orion, and Sansui brands. Orion also manufactures the entire CRT television lineup for Toshiba and some for Panasonic. The 27" Insignia may sound like a great deal, because it's like more than $75 cheaper than the Panasonic and Toshiba, and Panasonic and Toshiba 27" are also made by Orion. Hope this helps."

But as Staind204 points out, you should probably go with the Samsung, as it's really worth the money for the quality, and includes the HD tuner to boot.

Well I must say I've had bad experience wit hthis Orion company. I originally bought the 26" Toshiba HDTV Monitor and had major problems with it. When using the HDMI port on the TV the picture would flicker a lot. Also when playing older games (NES, N64, Genesis, SNES) the TV would cut off the bottom of the screen. I know the games were originally in full screen but most TV's would adjust the picture accordingly (the Samsung one does) but the Toshiba would not. I tried every single picture mode and every one of them cut off the bottom. I have also read of a lot of people having trouble with these Orion made Toshibas. I would def go with the samsung over some generic brand (Samsung also has 1 yr parts and labor warranty).

fry's electronics (this is in sj that i saw) has a 26" LCD HD Ready TV for $599
i don' t know the brand because they didn't put it on the ad but you can always check your local fry's

Not that impossible... My friend and I both got a 30'' widescreen HD tv for $260 a piece last week. One brand was a Sanyo, the other was a Phillips.

Try looking at Wal-Marts for their clearanced Tvs. If you find one you like, ask for the store manager and try to talk them down on the price. Tell them you have cash and will take the TV right now.

You are extremely lucky... The only clearance tvs left at my wal-mart are big screens that they have clearanced for $899... regular $999.

Ours were marked $600 retail, $400 on clearance. Then we talked the manager down to $260. When we asked to take some money off, he took $100 off right there.

Thanks for researching the insignia tv Heavy. Sounds like Orion might have some problems... The samsung does seem like the better deal overall, I wonder if I could find one at walmart for that cheap, I can't believe the deal that jericho got, I like barganing like that, but I'm not sure I could get someone down THAT low. You guys have all been very helpful, and fast! I'm likeing this forum.

Samsung 30" Widescreen HDTV for $500. If you live in South Florida, Brandsmart is killer for deals.

You could try pricematching that ad somewhere else, you know. Couldn't hurt to try.
I wish I lived in florida haha. They have a 26 inch widescreen samsung for 348 as well... great deal!

Are you EVER gonna stop talking about your TV deal? Im happy for you, really, but its DOMINATING your life.

First a giant ass thread whether you should buy it.

Then we tell you to so you do and talk on and on all about it.

Then you make a "is mine better than my friends" thread.

And now this.

Man, its great you got the tv but find something else to talk about. Sheesh.

*Edit* And yes, that was a VERY incredible deal for all those wondering. But if you do score a similar deal, for gods sake dont drone on about it.

It's called Brand Devotion in Marketing.

Many, if not most, companies take someone elses TV, perhaps change the chassis a little, paint it, and then slap their name on it.

You want cheap and big look for anything CRT Rear Projection.

here is a 42" Akai (Is actually a rebadged Samsung) for $699: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Akai-42-HDTV-Monitor-PT4299HD-/sem/rpsm/oid/97042/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do?sourceid=qIZcQu6LEBNHATGUDDWN&affiliateid=20026380&carriage=befree

I think you can get it down to $599 with certain specials this week in store, but I could be wrong.

Forget those 26" Samsung's people are telling you to get for 600+. Get this 42" Samsung, I mean Akai ;) for nearly the same price.

I hear this from people all the time yet I never seen any proof. When I go to Best Buy and see all the TVs of the same size and showing the same thing- I can see a difference, there's always some that look better than others.

I'm not doubting you (I'm sure they do it as some TVs, I can't tell the difference at all) but there must be something the big brands do as their TVs look better.

If you expect to see any difference in quality you have to set it up CORRECTLY!!!

NONE!!! of the TVs at these stores are setup correctly. And are NOT showing anything of high quality. Each set comes from the factory with different settings. All TVs will look different until setup correctly.

Basing your buying decision off what they show you on the floor is absolutley a complete waste.

If you either don't believe me or are convinced this TV i listed is any different at all in terms of quality you are stuck with that brand devotion mentality.

There is absolutely NO difference between this Akai and the Samsung (except the chassis and the power button is moved slightly). They are made in the same factory, by the same machines/people, side by side. The Samsung may have been setup better by someone because they hired someone to do it at Best Buy or just comes with better DEFAULT settings from the factory.

OP, I suggest you check CC this week for this TV. I am pretty sure you can get it for 599 with the special they are running on TVs. It is much bigger then some measly 26" for the same price.

Chris

Maybe I do have brand devotion but the only HDTV we have in our home is a Hitachi... I have other products made by Samsung and Panasonic, companies I do prefer as their customer service is way better than their products last longer than the smaller brand products. For me, anyway.:)

I understand what you are saying, however I am not looking for anything that big either... I am living in an apartment and have no space for a TV that big... if they made a smaller model I would consider it, as this is low end anyways it is not something I am gonna hang onto for 10 years. this is just something to get me by until I have enough money to go all out. I am definetly thinkin' about it, but the 26inch does look more appealing. What kind of deal does Circuit city have goin' on on tv's this week?
