Request: Dual Layered DVD Burner

Christ I hadn't realized that burner's went for so little nowadays I still remember paying DELL $300 to add one to my PC a few yr's back...
DVD media is cheap now, though, not as cheap as CDs. It's not like back then where it was unbearable.
Dual Layer media is still expensive and hard to find. Single Layer DVDs are about 40 cents a disc now.

Yeah, forgot to say dual layer is expensive.

As for single layer DVD's, it really depends on where you get them. I got 100 authentic Taiyo Yudens for about 27 cents each.

I say buy the NEC, every computer I ever built I have used NEC parts as much as I could. Hell if you want the best Monitors get NEC as well. If I remember right they are a part of Mitsubishi.

They are great products and last forever. I am pissed though I payed 60 bucks for that dual layer burner about 2 months ago from Newegg.

Alright I'm a little computer illiterate, if I buy the NEC one will I still be able to rip cds and dvds? I bought a Plextor cd burner awhile back but for some reason I couldn't rip cds on it.

Get the NEC 3540a, its the latest version and the best. DVD ripping is much faster, and DL burning is twice as fast. Its only about $43 but they go on sale a lot at places like Newegg. You might as well spend the extra $5 or so over the 3520a.

Ripping CD's has to do with programs, not CD drivers.. pretty sure you can rip any CD with any CD ROM drive.
