Purchased a camera off of ebay. I was trying to buy a Canon XSI which is essentially the same as the UK canon 450D and Japan Canon Kiss 2.

Camera arrived today. The product box was not the XSI box as pictured. It was the 450D. which means that it's imported. they even opened the box and included a voltage adapter since plugs are different and manual which clearly states that its a copy.

I don't think I'm gonna be able to register this camera in the U.S and have the manufacturers warranty. but ebay page states 1 year warranty through seller which I dont trust since they could disappear or something.

I'm pretty pissed off since i was expecting the XSI and didn't get it. Does this count as bait and switch? Auction doesn't seem to mention that I'd be getting a imported camera. I'm just trying to cover my ass in case something happens to the camera.

emailed seller to see if they have a brand new xsi i can exchange for, currently waiting for reply.

Am i making a big deal over nothing or do you think my argument is justified? Do you think I'd have problems trying to get my money back? Might it be possible to register the camera in the US though it originated from the UK?

You need to get what was advertised, not a close substitute...

That being said regarding the return/exchange/refund...
For me, it would depend on the seller's feedback.
If at all questionable, file for a return immediately with Paypal...

I do agree about getting what was advertised.
I can't say their feedback is clean and perfect but the amount of positives greatly outweigh the neutral/negatives. I can't see everybody being happy with everything so I can understand some negative feedback.

I'm trying to hold off on going to paypal since i only sent the email about 2 hours ago. I wanna give them the benefit of the doubt and some time to respond but if i have to go to them i will.

Good get it rolling before they sweep all funds out.
You can always cancel your filing or pay them again.
