I wonder if gamestop really did get shipments of this and persona, because in my two years of following gamestop, I have never seen either game in-stock. And given that neither of them have even marginal trade-in values (

i dont see people who just bought it trading it in, what u could see is disc only copies that people traded in who bought new ones
This could be a good option for those who want the game, but don't want to pay $50. You should have a very good chance for getting a complete (not to mention, like new condition) copy this way.
Well, I ordered Rhapsody...we'll see what happens... I don't have a good track record with Gamestop..and don't have high hopes for this one either.....

I actually got a complete and decent Rhapsody at Gamestop last month. The game disc, case, instructions were perfect. The soundtrack disc was pretty mediocre. It was like someone left it in their car and kept forgetting to take it in the house or had it under other CD's, it's fairly scratched up but it still plays.

Man, I predicted this in the Persona 2 thread. :p

I would agree with you on this. Disc-only's probably worth jack these days, where as the most who bought from GQD have to know the value of the game.

good luck cause i heard gamestop was gutting these and will sell them disc only. they are either tossing the soundtrack or going to be selling those seperate

That makes absolutely no sense at all. Where did you "hear" this?

Well, I just got my copy I ordered from Gamestop and.......

Its got everything and it's in pristine shape!! It looks like the manual has never been touched or opened. The game CD and soundtrack CD both have "Zero" scratches. The only thing was the GS -Used- sticker which came right off. I'm a happy camper :)

They took that new stock, like the stock that gqd got, and took off the wrapper, then slapped an "r" sticker over the upc which means refurbished which it isn't. I'm really not sure what the profit margin is on opening new old games and reselling them, but I would assume it's high. They also did that with the super puzzle fighter 2 that I received at the gamestop over here in channelview, I don't know why though.
what is the 20% code ?
people who ordered the coliseum game that got cancelled due to price mistake got a 20% off code

I just did the zip code search to see in any stores by me have it instock and many of them list that they have "More on the way."

i actually picked this up at launch years back, the game wasnt too much fun, beat it in one sitting..but hey for collectors, by all means :) (...i traded it in to funco-land..I WAS YOUNG DAMNIT!! :'( )

One sitting??? I thought this was an RPG. How long is this game? I assumed it to be atleast 20-30 hours. Is at actually a 3 hr game or are you a super gamer who can play 2 days straight wthout food or sleep.

I have heard it is a really short game. Everyone I have talked to who has beaten the game said 2-3 days of normal gaming is all you need.

I am still waiting on Persona 2 from GS, but seeing that Rhapsody came in pristine condition, I am hoping it will be in the same condition.

Some GameStop B&M stores might have the game in stock as well. We got one in at my store that was in complete and mint condition. It's pretty much brand new.

I feel sorry for those who invested in these games.:booty: The stores around me have plenty in stock and more on the way.

Less than 1,000? I highly doubt that, since many of the stores say "More on the Way - Yes", and other CAG's have been reporting that theirs have been saying this too.

I guess the reprint wasn't just for Gamequest. I figured that a couple of weeks later another store would get Rhapsody and Persona 2 and have it for cheaper ... ironically, GameStop. You HAVE to have high prices if GameStop is cheaper than you.

i dont care if they got 50,000 they are opened it wont bring down sealed prices

Just got my copy from Gamestop, and the condition is like new. It's been opened, but it's quite obvious this was not preplayed as the discs were tightly in their holders and offered a good deal of resistance before coming out just like new PS 1 games that weren't jostled around too much before arriving at a store always did. It had the Used-R sticker on the back and it's almost as if the person who put it there expected it to be removed as they left one part of it dog eared for easy removal. The manual has the new scent to it, and even has the registration card inside. What a lucky buy! Thanks OP! :)

Long time lurker, first time poster. So, hi everyone! Thanks for posting this deal! I missed the gamequestdirect offering of Rhapsody and I was kicking myself because of it. Also noticed Persona 2 being in stock as well, so I added that to my order. I overnighted it, so I hope for the same condition as everyone that has recieved their order thus far. Thanks again!

Damn, I didn't want to risk buying Persona 2 from Gamestop, but it seems that their copies are in great condition with the original case, to boot.

Is Rhapsody worth playing through? I'm not interested in collecting, but as a musician the "musical adventure" aspect sounds appealing, though I don't really know anything about the game.

I just caved and picked up Rhapsody and Persona 2, as well. I hope to god it arrives in like-new condition, or I'm going to be *extremely* disappointed.

what did you get for your free game?
what did you get for your free game?
I went the 20%-off route instead of getting a free game, as I don't buy used games unless they're in pristine condition. I can't ever guarantee that online, but in this case I figured I stood a pretty good chance of getting what I wanted.
i dont care if they got 50,000 they are opened it wont bring down sealed prices
It will if other places get more, specifically places that don't open new games and sell them as used. Might be a sign since gqd and GS got new copies.

doubtful as most stores (eb, gamestop, Ect) will open up games. Also i doubt anyone traded them in cause Persona 2 only has a trade vaule of 6 bucks. and they will not take them in sealed they must be opened.

they already have used Diseaga in stock and that is even before the reprint comes out. so if you want to say rhapsody is going to crash in price, diseaga must really going to crash since they have it before they get the tons of new ones in next week

gf just recieved my copy of rhapsody and persona 2 and she said that the games are like new but i hope my breath of fire iv will come complete since it was shipped separately but im still kicking myself for getting a sealed copy of rhapsody online for 60 bucks

Alot of my GS zip code thing said that too and the nearest one to me has it in stock

Hey,

I skipped the second page but wanted to let you guys know I ordered 10 of these as an "investment" (Yeah, yeah, I could have done a lot worse and there's plenty of them left).

Anyway, to whoever cares, I got them all this week and they are all in brand spankin' new condition. I think GS is removing the factory seal (for no apparent reason) but I kid you not - they all came mint. Mint instructions, mint disc, mint case. I am 99.99999% certain these games have never seen a Playstation.

If I were you, I would want someone to relieve my fears before shelling out $40. I can say it is more than worth the risk. Once GS runs out, I would imagine they'll be out.

By the way, GS did this with Smash Brothers for the N64 and Mario Kart 64 a couple of years back. For some reason, removing the factory seal somehow frees them up to "legally" sell brand new games as "used". That's how it was explained to me back then. I don't get it, but whatever...

Got a few like-new copies of this at the b&m GS I work at, along with mint copies of Breath of Fire IV, as well. Been seeing more and more of both recently.

not that smart of an investment when tons of people paid 50 bucks for these sealed and keeping them for investments.. sealed ones should keep their vaule but opened ones wont for a while

Does anoyone know if Gamestop is making more money opening new games and selling them for used or not? I mean, that's the only reason I could possibly think of for why they do it, but then wouldn't they do it for all games then?

I thought GS had some policy against selling new PS1 games anymore... could be wrong though
