RIP Audioslave
I'd applaud superior talent too if I was a fan of the most overrated 'band' in the last fifteen years.
I didn't realize Sbyml was a Tool fan.

Audioslave singer Chris Cornell has quite the short-lived "supergroup,"
 I didn't realize comming out with 3 albums made you a short lived band. Oh well his voice was going to shit (live track off Revelations anyone?), perhaps this is for the best.

OK, second most overrated?

Cornell's voice did the same thing in 96 off the Japan (?) tour. He just needs to give the pipes a rest once in awhile.

We also need B-Sides, so get Kim's ass working on that while you're at it Chris.

Eh, I would have been thrilled with this, but I do commend Cornell for his recent Bond theme.

Personally, I'd rather see Trent Reznor overdose on heroin.

What brand of beer can I buy you?

Even though I'm a beer snob, I can't seem to get Yuengling Lager around here.

We'll share some when it happens. IMO, it's inevitable.

Yeah this news kinda sucks but if it means the reunion of Rage... then I'm for it. And if SG reunited too... well that'd be amazing.

I feel lucky to have seen Audioslave in concert shortly after their first album.... Shadow on the Sun is still a great song.

The only thing that would make this news better is if the reasoning was that Chris Cornell had to have his larynx removed. Good lord, I can't stand his voice.

Disappointing, guess I'm glad I snagged their last CD.

But after reading the article, it looks like Rage has already gotten back together at least temporarily, so I guess I can't complain too much.
Yeah this news kinda sucks but if it means the reunion of Rage.
I forgot about that. Perhaps this means a longer than expected RATM reunion? Great, I can't go to Best Buy and purchase an album by a bunch of guys signed to Warner Bros. Record (or whomever it is) telling me the system sucks.
fucking hell, I really liked Audioslave.

But I'll happily take the reformation of Soundgarden and RATM.
And tour together. That would make a cool show. I only got to see Soundgarden once, opening for Danzig back on 08/03/1990 (after some fact-checking), and it was one of the most boring sets I've ever seen. This was, of course, before I knew who they were. I would love to be back at that show again now.

Rage Against the Machine, pleeeeeeeeeeease reunite (and not just for Coachella)

RATM is my all time favorite band and I wont be happy until I see them play live at least once.
Didnt they offer the lead singer position to Daughtry or am I thinking of another band?
You might be thinking of Fuel.

Word.

dammit. thanks Mak. I really dont follow non hip hop :p

That just made my day. Audioslave was just fucking awful. And all it means to me is that those rage guys don't have it like they used to. Hell, they lost it on that last album, if you asked me. I used to be the biggest Rage fan, and I even felt "meh" about battle for los angeles. RATM and Evil Empire were great albums though.

As for Chris Cornell, im sure he lives within driving distance of some bridge to throw himself off of, no worries.
Not even when SOAD hung it up?
You know, despite some people thinking I like only the most obscure uber kvlt music, I actually liked System of a Down. Still do. Though they were getting a little eh, so it was better to end when they did. Toxicity is still an awesome album though.

I agree. I like Chris Cornell and Tom Morello is an amazing guitar player. But Audioslave just sucked.

But once Malakian started getting more mic time, it was all over for me.

I saw that show in Cleveland! It was during their Louder than Love album.

I also saw Soundgarden open up for Voivod. Faith No More opened for them. Awesome show!

Oh well Audioslave was meh anyway. I still think it was kinda funny that a few months ago they started a fan club and were charging ppl money I feel bad for anyone that bought a membership lol
Hopefully soundgarden follows the police's lead and reunites ^_^
Follow their lead, Velvet Revolver.
LOL! It's funny cuz' it's true. They totally suck as well.

Since they were heading in the EMO/Greenday direction it's good they retired.

I only liked Audioslave's first album. It's the only album of theirs that is actually listenable and actually has some good material on it. Cochise kind of/sort of sounds like an extension of Rage and is actually my favorite song from Audioslave, and IMO probably their best. After that it was lots of decent to sub par songs when the second and third albums came. They had such potential, but ended up descending into utter mediocrity or even less then that. They are and will forever be known as one of the biggest disappointments to come out of music.

SOAD is probably one of the most overrated groups out there. They are so hit or miss. I'd find a handful of songs I liked, and then an equal amount of crap.

That's pretty much what I was going to say. :applause:

The worst $50.00 I ever put in my pocket was my refund for the cancelled RATM/Beastie Boys show. They cancelled the show because one of the Beasties broke his arm. Rage broke up soon thereafter. No possible way for me to make it to Coachella, so I'm also hoping to see them at least once.

I had tickets to that show in Atlanta. I'm still pissed about it.

I had tickets to see Rage when Wu Tang was opening for them. That show would've been fantastic. Its been so long now that I forget exactly what happened .. if the show was cancelled or something happened on my end .. but all I know is I ended up missing it.

I'm not sure why people are actually happy that they are breaking up - if you don't like them don't listen to them. No harm to you. I mean if Mariah Carey or Celine Dion decided to never record or perform again I wouldn't care one way or another because they have no impact on my life in any measurable way but I wouldn't be happy about it. I just wouldn't care at all.

I think, in this case, the reason people are happy about Audioslave breaking up isn't so much that Audioslave isn't going to make music anymore, but that it opens up the possibility for the two superior bands that formed that supergroup to reunite. I know I would much rather have new Soundgarden and Rage albums than a new Audioslave one.

People are happy that they are breaking up because they aren't Rage.

No fucking shit. Audioslave was never meant to be Rage. If you thought that was what it was going to be, then you deserve to listen to Celine Dion the rest of your life.

Soundgarden isn't going to reform. Matt is with Pearl Jam, and who knows what Ben and Kim are doing.

I liked Audioslave because they WEREN'T Rage. I liked both. I also liked Soundgarden. Chris's solo work? Not real interested aside from a couple of songs ('Seasons' comes to mind).
