I went in to get Ratchet and Clank UYA . . . it was supposed to be in last Thur . . . but they didn't have it stock on Thur. or Fri.

Had it sent up front today . . . the clerk was puzzled about my raincheck (Zelda WW 67% off). I pointed out the substitution policy on another one. So she rang it up . . . the after tax total was $17.74. After I was getting into my car, I realized that the clerk had not entered the percentage discount but had just discounted the game to $16.88.

Because it's a $39.99 game, It should have been about $14 . . . after this treatment I think I'm going to stop shopping at Target!

hahahaha. im not even going to say anything, ima use my 31% on halo 2 and watch the customers go "why does he get it for so cheap?"

I had to use a "measley" 43% raincheck before it expired. Haven't opened the game but do you think they'll let me exchange it (MK: Deception) for Halo 2 with or without a receipt. I'm guessing it would have to be without the receipt to get the cheaper price
Are you serious? You still raped them.
I'm not serious and I'm not going to return it or try to get an adjustment . . . I was just creating a non-Halo 2 post to take your minds off the wait. UYA for under $18 . . . I'm happy!

I have a couple Zelda rainchecks left . . . Halo 2, Jak 3 . . . PoP2 . . . they expire about Nov. 25 . . . so they won't work for Metroid 2

I'm amazed it worked. I thought that those Zelda rainchecks didn't have the substitiution policy on them.

They don't have the substitution policy, but if the employees will still ring in the discount, you can still get it. The 50% off ones will work the same way.

I carry one with the sub policy along as a prop.

Very slick.

Hahaha...you had me fooled, I had the flame gun set to "DEEP FRY" and was about to pull the trigger. ;)

Probably too slick . . . it's like a game (in and of itself) for me . . .

I did the post for fun . . . but I jinxed myself. Today a clerk paused and got her manager . . . damn! 20 minutes later and the Lead of the store and the Zelda raincheck was discredited--not much argument out of me.

I ended using a 31% (slightly red-faced  ) raincheck.

Got the LE game with guide for $38 ($40.03 after tax)

I hear ya. I'm sure it was quite a rush to successfully use the first Zelda RC.

Good to hear you still got the free guide using a RC. I'm planning to try the same thing tonight. (If they have any left.)
how does this raincheck thing work? never really read about it or kept up to date about. do they still have them going on?
You have to be very slick about it and go to Target when it rains and they give out rain checks....

Not badmouthing you, but someone seriously needs to implement my plan. We need to have a stickied thread explaining all of the bread and butter deals of CAG (BB GGC, Target Raincheck, 25% off used EBGames.com, etc.) Mods, can one of you get around to this? It wouldn't be that hard. I would do it, but I'm too lazy and I prefer to bitch about problems.

.....if you do that, Target deals like this are completely over as soon as they find out about it. Companies are now hiring people to post and to research on the internet in sites like this. That is what they do all day for the company. They look out for stuff like this and change policy accordingly. It's already happening at Best Buy as Wal Street Journal has a whole article about it.

This is a good point . . . I've basically begun to assume the Target raincheck will end before long . . . so, I'm living it up now with this season's releases.

Also, I now use cash on my raincheck transactions and stuff I know I may return . . . just in case they are tracking my behavior. Target gives 90 days on returns . . . with the way games are getting discounted so rapidly, you can get your money back with a sealed copy within 3 months.

Well I could have picked up Halo 2 CE for $38 on a rain check last night, but they were out of the strategy guides and wouldn't give me a slip to get one for free when they came back in stock so I passed.

The guy who rang me up called up another worker to ask if I could have a slip for the strategy guide and when he found out I had used a rain check for a gamecube game told me you can only use the rain checks for the same system and that you can't use them on new releases. I would have argued the no new releases point, but only GC for GC could be an interpretation of the substitution clause so I probably would have just accepted that one. I asked for my rain check back and left.

Too bad they didn't have the strategy guides sitting out or the first guy would have checked me out and sent me on my way, oh well. Another Target said they had the CEs in stock and hadn't gotten the guides in yet so I may try that one today and see how it goes.

I've never used a raincheck before.....maybe I should try it once before it's gone for good. Eh, but I doubt it'll be going anwhere until at least sometime next year. Maybe never. Target may be losing money on them, but whenever I go in to pick up a marked down game...I always leave with a bunch of other crap. Maybe the loophole isn't unintentional at all.....

My wife spent $150 at Target this week. I bought a $100 phone card there last week.

I always leave with a pack of diapers and wipes . . . shaving cream . . . toys . . . decorations . . . DVDs . . .

It's not a justification for ripping them off . . . clearly all of this adds to their bottom line. Definitely learn the ins and outs of rainchecks . . . I've saved quite a bit with them (even 30% off is a better deal than anywhere else).

I think Target would just be as happy to not have customers (who just saved themselves like a lot of money through the raincheck policy) to return and shop there. You already saved yourself over 50 percent of the cost of the game. Why are you arguing over a measley 3 dollars difference when you saved over 20 dollars? Do the math. Take yourself out of the equation and I think Target would just be as happy as you.

Why are you posting without reading the thread? He already said he was kidding.

The whole thing was a joke--glad I caught you.

Although, it happened to me again today. I can't take the Zelda rainchecks into the Kenosha store after being turned down trying to buy Halo 2. But I used one at my Racine store to get Jak 3 at Target . . . it should have been $13.33 after the 67% off . . . but the clerk matched it to the $16.88 listed for Zelda . . . OBVIOUSLY I have no complaint in getting Jak 3 for $17.

Too bad, the clerk that I caught for Halo 2 didn't do this  I paid $40 for the LE game and guide.
