It seems like Rockstar didn't take a cue from San Andreas. It seems the psp version of the game still has the uncut kills in the code (didn't see any confirm on the ps2/Wii versions as of yet, but it's very very likely).

PSP version

just let the devs be already....whats the point of having a rating system if we are just going to censor a game? the more realistic the graphics get, the more censorship the (ie ninja gaiden 2) game has...gay! hahaha! y would they bother censoring teh psp version?

People out of touch with video gaming are going to rake this over the coals...

I read this headline a few times today on other sites, but this is the first time I've seen it presented this way...

you may be right OP. This will probably be another hot coffee type of scandal.

The only thing that happens does is take the filter out. It's not like Rockstar took the content out. They just covered it up. In addition, the only way to access the game is to through ILLEGAL means so if anyone does attempt to see this stuff and complains, then Rockstar point out that the cops should start paying attention to the people who are complaining because the only way they could have experienced the game is illegally.

Yep, which is exactly what happened with GTA and got them off the hook.

er, waitaminute...

My sentiments exactly. Just wait till ole Jack heres about this one!

Sadly, this will spurn greater sales and cause people to experience the horror that is playing such a dismal game.

It's like a playable Eli Roth movie.

Goddamn the Hostel movies are bad.

Also, what ended up happening with the Hot Coffee thing? Did they get sued, or just get a shit-ton of bad PR?

Thats what happened with Oblivion with the nude patch, yet they still had to change their rating to "M" I think?

Who cares, Manhunt sucks and it'll sell 20k this month. This will blow over by the time we're unwrapping our presents that AREN'T manhunt 2 this year.

That version of the game was changed to AO, so most stores sent it back to wait for the fixed version to be released. I don't remember how much they lost in that process at the end, but I remember hearing that it was at least $50 million at some point.

Well duh, they never said they'd take it out. The only thing Rockstar did to get that M rating was to put in a blurry multi-coloured acid-tripping type filter on the screen for the more intense kills. Obviously there would be a way to quickly undo what rockstar quickly did to cover it up.

I'm just hoping this doesn't mean the box is slapped AO and sent back to Rockstar, because I'd very much like to play this now that I know the filter can be removed.

What system did you play the game on, Myke? Or are we just taking your baseless opinion as fact now?

It's seen decent (70%-ish) ratings from the major publications. I'm kind of interested to play it on the Wii (it comes with knives and glass shards, according to Katie!).

I've seen comparisons to Manhunt 1 kills, and they're not any worse.

Just remember that the act of violence is acceptable as long as you can't really see it clearly, so if you want to beat someone with a manhole cover, make sure you wear someone else's prescription glasses so it's acceptable.

ESRB: it's okay to brutally murder people as long as you're hopped up on PCP and hallucinating while doing it.

Man, I have more in common with the ESRB than I thought.

I've played it on the PS2. It's dreadful; the very same game that came out 4+ years ago, with a contrived and forced story that meanders from cliche' setting to cliche setting "oh, now that we've escaped the asylum, we have to find my friend in the industrial club, and go underground to the buttfucking club and sadist Hostel-like environment." They're snapshots held together with papier mache and sold to me as a "deep narrative."

And it's being sold as a "new experience." I don't buy it; if EA sports games are consistently shit on as nothing more than "roster updates," I don't see how the same kind of criticism can't apply here as well.

So, it's not baseless opinion (all of my opinions are well founded), but it is an opinion. It's old wine in new bottles - worse yet, it's five year old Sutter Home White Zinfandel in a new bottle. It was shit when it first started, and it's dated shit now. If you like it, more power to you. Some people like to take a fist up their arse. I'm not one of them.

ESRB president Patricia Vance just held a short conference call to address the growing furor surrounding the discovery that the unfiltered, Adults Only version of Manhunt 2 is fully playable on the PlayStation Portable with the help of a hack.

In a nutshell, Vance said what happened with Manhunt 2 was not at all similar with what happened with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas' "Hot Coffee" scandal.

"With Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, that involved a scene that was fully rendered in unmodified content on the disc," she said. "It didn't alter the content; it merely unlocked it. That content was not disclosed to the ESRB... and it was easily accessible to PC users."

While Vance stressed the differences between what happened with GTA:SA and Manhunt 2, it was unclear to me how removing a filter to see images that were deemed appropriate for adults only and unlocking a scene in a game that is deemed appropriate for adults only is that different.
Vance contended that this was not an issue with the ESRB, but rather one created by smart hackers.

"I don't think there is much the ESRB can do to stop games from being modified," she said. "I don't think the ESRB should be held responsible."
Called it bitches!

Basically the ESRB just wants the forget the game exists.

In other news. fuck Manhunt 2. Buy Zack and Wiki!

AW, FIDDLESTICKS!

What am I going to do with the 47 copies I bought today to sell on eBay?

Call me crazy, but I think Eli Roth is a great filmmaker.

I was literally dragged to Cabin Fever by my then-girlfriend, and I was shockingly enthralled by the film.

While I've never seen Hostel - and while I'm not one for gore - I really enjoyed Hostel 2. It had great cinematography and some very nice storytelling mechanics. (Lots of irony, too. Mmm-mmm!)

Cabin Fever was decent but if you seen Hostel 1 ( which was mediocre ), Hostel 2 was just Hostel 1. Instead of 3 girls Hostel 1 had 2 dudes and a chick. 1 was ok but 2 was lame.

Return them?

Wait... you did keep the receipt right?

Cabin Fever all right. Hostel = shit.

From what I've gathered, though, Hostel 2 tells the story from both inside the secret society-thing, and out.

Yea it does. In the first you wer ekinda clueless until the end which I liked.

Also I know there will be a Hostel 3 based of what happened at the end of 2. :)

this is nothing like hot coffee, get over it....

not that hot coffee was anything to begin with anyway.........

The fact that there aren't any boobies involved keeps the game safe from Hot Coffee and Oblivion territory.

FAIL.

That was by far one of the worst movies I've seen. Please stop supporting this crap.:whistle2:#

Bingo. Violence is okay, but titties is bad. The MPAA isn't much different in this regard.

I dunno, I think the fact that it's Rockstar means people are looking for a reason to attack it. It's already fallen off the shelves at my local Wal-Mart, not available in store at Circuit City or Best Buy in Albany, and only one copy still left at CompUSA. Either it's selling out because people are expecting it to turn into another Hot Coffee, or it's already getting pulled.
