Router Recommendation?

I've never had a problem with my linksys WRT54G. Just make sure to stay away from the newest pre-n routers, since they will all be rendered useless in a year or less.
Go with LinkSYS. Just stay away from D-Link. They're shaq-fuing cheap as hell, but not worth it.
Dlink are cheap and work fine as long as all the other stuff you use is also dlink and in the same family. Belkin SUCKS!!! Stay far away. Linksysis is mad expensive. GO to tigerdirect. They have package deals on dlink stuff.

D-Link is fucking horrible, ESPECIALLY for gaming w/ Xbox/PS2. I got rid of mine after it crapped out on me for a LinkSYS. I had many problems with it before it crapped out too, and the customer service was horrible. When the PS2 NA came out, I had to wait EIGHT! months for them to release a compatible firmware for the 604+

wow Iv had my d-link for about almost 2 years and never had a problem with it ,then again it is a wireless router so maybe thats why it works I dunno but so far no complaints . I get the PS2 online easily and also with my xbox .

Belkin is horrible. Don't get that.

Netgear seems pretty good. Both my home and college apartment use it and no problems have come out of that.

Yeah, but it took them a year to get the correct firmwares out for PS2.

what was the problem you couldnt get online or u were not getting enough bandwith to ur ps2 ?

I use a linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless router and a Linksys wireless gaming adaptor for my ps2. Didn't even have to blink to get it working. It's easy set-up and I've never had a problem. You should be able to get both these things For $50 each.

It didn't support the PS2.

I have a D-Link DI-624 for about a year now and have had zero problems with it. I dont use the wireless for gaming but I do have 4 comps in the building using the wireless signal from it. Plus iam using all 4 of the RJ-45 connections. The Signal is always good. My friend uses the same router to go on Xbox Live and he always gets an excellent signal. I would go with D-Link

D-Link and Linksys are the most sought after brands. They both work very well (I've been using a D-Link for a long time and have never had any problems with it). Linksys is usually expensive, though. You should be looking at under $60 for a router, under $50 for cheaper wired routers.

I've heard bad things about Netgear routers, but you never know..

thats the same exact one im using and Iv had zero problems . Im guessing rich might have had the router that was made prior to the DI-624
which didnt have support (through Firmware) for the ps2 while the a couple of routers after his previous model does contain that firmware already instead hmmm just a guess

I already said I had the DI-604 :p

Stay away from Belkin! I bought a belkin wireless router, and i aside from it taking 5 hrs to set up, the connection kept getting lost/slowed down. I had to switch back to my wired linksys router (BEFSR41). Alot of people i know have linksys and none of us have had any problems with them. I've heard alot of good things about D-Link routers and i remember OXM doing a write-up of them being very good for gaming. D-Link are generally alot cheaper than Linksys, so that may be your best bet, just stay away from Belkin.

i got a belkin g wireless from compusa for AR 7.99..it cost about $70...works well so far..only noticed the connection goes down 54 kbp's when i'm downstairs in another part of the house

ive used both linksys wrt54g and dlink di-624, and all i have to say is that dlink sucks, i rarely got to connect with wireless, didnt know why, and i currently have a wrt54g connected to a dlink di-614 and the linksys rocks, i just use the dlink for a wired router and the linksys for wireless
