Hi, my little nephew just got a turtle for the holidays and I notice that the turtle has some white slimey substance coming out by his tale. Is this natural or is the turtle sick?

Never remembered seeing that with a turtle. Calling a vet would be a good idea, but they're probably going to just tell you to bring it in. Maybe you should ask a pet store employee instead, they cant charge you for advice.

The local vet charges $45 for a check up and it aint open at the hours that are convienant for me and the pet store said that its just urine and it should be alright. I just want a second answer.

I am not sure about tortoises specifically, but reptiles in general excrete nitrogenous waste as uric acid rather than urea (like mammals). My guess is if it looks like bird poop, that would be what you are seeing.
