Dude said he works ar TRU and they will be giving them out with preorders....

Create a player and "I am having a ton of fun with the game so far. Basically you get like 4 missions to complete and then it over. There is only a small portion of the map unlocked so you could just go around and cause havock but you dont get the entire city. The missions are pretty sweet and the last one is a huge firefight between rival gangs."

I was JUST going to post this too...I may just pre-order to get the demo early if B&M stores get it before the marketplace does.
 
Aww man, hope it gets on marketplace soon, before the actual demo release date(that would be funny).

Whoa, I wonder if GameRush will get one. I have the demo pre-ordered already.

Kinda funny though, what if someone hates the demo and cancels the pre-order, wouldn't the stores be losing potential sales.

That's what I'll be doing. I have it paid at GR so I'll just put $5 down at whatever store, get my demo and then cancel my preorder later on. :D

I was just at TRU yesterday. If I would have known, I would have asked. Its quite aways away for my lunch break. I'm hoping my closest GS has it instock.
 
Called GC, they don't have it yet.. I preordered.. SUPER HYPED!!! I can't WAIT to try this out.

The GC site just says "Making Of DVD".. I hope it has the demo as well.
 
I just picked it up about an hour ago from TRU in GB, PA and I have to tell you that the game is horrible. I was looking forward to this game sooooo much. It is really cheesy and the voicework reminds me of 25 To Life. They charged me $9.99 for the demo, because they didn't have the preorders in the computer yet. I thought this game was going to be really good, but boy was I let down. Here's to hoping Dead Rising is great.......
 
Thanks for the update. It makes me feel better that the 5 stores I called didnt have it. I'll still check it out but now im not so hyped. How are the gamerpics/themes?
 
Well there are 5 gamer pics, and each of the gamer pics contains one character from the game. Then the theme is like white and blue in color and has 3 characters from the game on it. They aren't great. The game isn't like trash, it's just not very amazing.

Anyway...is it just a GTA clone that adds nothing new, or is it not even as good as that? How's the framerate?
 
A friend of mine , who used to work at Outrage(Volition's sister company) , talked to his buddy who's working on this game , said "it's pretty bad , they have like 150 people working on it . Trying to get it out the door ."
I was bummed to hear such a thing , I always thought Volition made good products (Descent , Red Faction).
He also said that the name was once "Bling Bling" . How gay .

Too bad they didn't keep that name. As a preorder bonus they could have given away a faux-diamond encrusted grill fo' yo' teef.

Cmon, every preview I read (espically IGN) said that it was nothing more than a polished GTA clone... if they can get that part right I'm in.

The videos look awesome, too.
 
It is pretty, a little cartoon-ish but pretty nevertheless. Anyway's it isn't a GTA clone because you cannot do everything that you can do in GTA. It has pretty good physics, like you can knock down fences and kick boxes, and it looks pretty realistic. It does shooting well, ecspecially when you do drive-by's, it's very easy and intuitive. This game just doesn't hook me like a game should that costs $60. And remember how fast the price came down on the other THQ game The Outfit....the same will happen with Saint's Row so wait 2 month's and pick it up for $35.

Like what? You said it did shooting well, and the game was intuitive, those both sound like positive points to me. San Andreas' shooting still wasn't that great, and doing drive-bys was too hard.
 
My Toys 'R' Us had no idea what the Hell I was talking about.
 
Those 2 things are positives, but the rest just seemed generic by GTA standards. It might just be the demo, we will see the final picture when it releases at the end of next month, but I can only go on the demo for now. It isn't that bad of a game once I got more into trying everything out, but it just doesn't show the charm like others before it have. Maybe it's just me.
 
I've been reading impressions at the XBOX forums and its mostly positive, they're pretty much saying if youre a GTA fan, you can't go wrong. I guess I'll keep hounding my local retailers daily till one gives.

Have faith in Volition. This game will probably end up being underrated like all of their other games (Red Faction 1 and 2, The Punisher), yet be pretty damn cool. I'm certainly looking forward to it.
 
OH boy! I made one last ditch effort to get NCAA 07 early while looking for this at the same time......... I hit Best Buy, TRU, Gamestop, Funcoland and Gamecrazy with other stops in between. I found no NCAA and all the employees were asking WTF I was talking about. The icing on the cake was I lost my fucking wallet! Never in my life even as a lil kid with a penny and a dime in a velcro wallet have I lost anything like this! Now that is GOOD TIMES replacement everythings and I got to retrace all my steps in crazy rain.:wall:
 
Just wait a month or 2 and this game will come down like $20, and it will be worth $39.99, but I can't see it being worth $59.99....after all aren't we CAG's?:roll:

Yeah. And, usually, CAGs have an idea of video game economics, in that 360 games don't drop in a mere two months, especially when there are no competing consoles on the market.

Hopefully Saints Rows online is good and can save this if it's a stinker. I have been looking forward to this as a hold over untill the next GTA comes out.

Exactly. I'm not expecting them to reinvent the wheel with this. Basically all I want is the GTA formula with better graphics, a more friendly save system and a couple of online modes that don't suck. Oh and keep it funny. The humor and music are half the charm of GTA.
