CAGiversary!
Given the titles at launch, I had a hard time choosing a first game for my nifty little DS on crack. Sure, Street Fighter is great, but I get really bored with any non-Smash fighting game. I did play the original Pilotwings, so was kinda ify about buying it. The rest of the game just didnt interest me at all.
But then there was Samurai Warriors: Chronicles. I love the Dynasty Warriors games, but never played a Samurai Warriors game. I have also played Dynasty Warriors on the DS and the PSP before and was less than impressed with them. Also most of the critic reviews I read for the game were not so great. So I was very leery about buying Chronicles. Then I read a few player reviews. Seems like most people LOVED the game! So I finally broke down and got it before my recent hospital stay. Sure I could have just waited and got something awesome in a few months, but I NEEDED to play a real 3DS game on my system.
I'm VERY glad I bought it!
I'm having so much fun with this game. I keep replaying levels over and over just to try and find the hidden 10th mission in each one, and unlock the 4th weapons for the different characters. I really love the main character's (I picked female) Muso attack combined with her Opportunity ability. It really gets you out of those annoying moments when 1 enemy gets in a hit, and the rest stun-lock you. I just wish there was a nice complete strategy guide for it, cause I'm trying to unlock everything.
I bought my 3DS mainly because I wanted to play new Mario Kart (WITH AN ANALOG STICK!) and Zelda. The 3D aspect of the system really didn't appeal to me as I was expecting cheesy "Oh look it's coming toward your face" effects like you see in most 3D movies (Despicable Me Tape Measure, I'm looking at you). I honestly planned on trying out the 3D a couple times, then turning it off. Now that I've played Chronicles I have to say that I LOVE the 3D. It really gives the graphics depth that I never really realized was missing. Now that enemy supply depot really looks like its 'away' from you. I turned off the 3D for a little while to try it out, and I turned it back on it like a minute.
Anyhow, thats my rant of my love for Chronicles. I almost did a whole review, but it would take awhile to write and I could spend that time unlocking more stuff in the game
