DarkSayian bugged me (on and off) about trading him my Grandia II manual for weeks. So when I finally came up with something for him to trade -a manual for GTA: San Andreas for PS2. I mailed the GII manual out via First Class mail and DarkSayian PM'ed me that he got it. He even left me good feedback!

Here we are over a month later, and I still haven't received my manual.
I've traded a few time here on CAG.com and everyone has been cool -except this guy....

Anyone have a spare GTA:SA PS2 manual? :bomb:

I still haven't received the GTA SA manual, and it's been almost 2 weeks. I sent you the GII manual First Class Mail and you got it reasonably fast. Did you send the GTA SA manual by Media Mail? If you didn't send it yet I won't be upset, but now I'd ask you to send it First Class so I can have the darn manual soon. Whatever happened let me know ASAP.

I've traded with DarkSayian on two different occassions, and both transactions went smoothly. I also traded with him recently at the time when he received all of those negatives for his feedback. Maybe he is really sick and needed to make up his finals. I suggest you PM a mod about this.

Just curious, when did he sent you that last PM?
 
It sucks if indeed the trade didnt go through but it makes you look REALLY bad for posting PMs and whatnot for public display.

If you arent getting anywhere with PMs, ask a mod for a little assistance. Starting "X CAGer jipped me threads" ALWAYS ends poorly for everyone involved.

Today is his final day to get me a dc# or the package arriving on my doorstep before i decide to give his home number a call.

He ripped me on 45$ worth of N64 games.

I looked at his feedback from judy's link. He has a bunch of positive feedback before he started getting all those negatives. Kinda strange why he turned from a solid trader to a scammer like that.

I made contact with him on 6/20 on AIM, and while he seemed polite and he said he was going to send out his ends of all his deals on that day, i have not received my items, nor has anyone else, nor have i received any dc#'s.

Its not the OP that concerns me, its what these things often become. A lot of times they get way out of hand (seems like 1/2 of CAG wants to play investigator/beat cop)

Maybe its just a personal peeve but I like business by those who can handle it. Nobody can do much about it but a mod, right? So why not go there first? You bet your butt that if Cheapy and Co. think a warning is needed, its gonna be put out there and highlighted.

I can say without a doubt in my mind Ive been ripped off bigger than any CAG here. I could have easily posted a whole bunch of incriminating crap on the two people who F'ed me. But the posibility of a negative for CAG as a whole outweighed any benefit I might get from a public hanging. Some of the ugliest threads in CAG history have been "This person screwed me!!!" threads. I dont think there need to be any more if it can be helped.

I don't think it's necessarily all that bad for people to post these things and allow other members of the community to give them suggestions on what to do or maybe let them know they are being too rash. Though, I suppose that could happen w/o disturbing the community if they PM a mod first. I think shrike mentioned he was working on a trading FAQ or something, so maybe that would help prevent the over abundance of these threads.

And I guess you didn't find the Cloudspekk or ChrisXE threads as amusing as I did :lol: (those were certainly disruptive)

Oh they had their moments of course. But there was a LOT of ugliness involved and some of the things said/done in those threads changed my attitudes toward certain CAGers forever.

As I said, I think its probably just how I was raised/taught to handle my business. I got ripped off $300 on here and I didnt go ape sheet like some people seem to over game manuals or a missing insert card.

These "I got ripped" threads are usually negative affairs. CAG has enough negativity lately I really hate to see it added to. We've got more than enough to handle as is without adding to it.
 
I've completed 50+ transactions here on CAG and I've yet to get rip off/scammed. *crosses fingers*

eBay, on the other hand, I've had one scammer recently...it's currently being dealt with. :?
 
Sorry to see this guy turned bad, I had 2 transactions with him and they went smoothly. But I did make him send first even though he had more feedback, I was sending close to 300 bux worth of stuff.
 
You guys need to get a mod involved ASAP. I mean, if a week goes by and you don't get your item, something is wrong. Either the PO is moving slowly or the sender isn't shipping. In either case, there needs to be investigation.

It always boggles my mind when these threads pop up and the OP is saying that he has waited two weeks or a month or whatever. That's too late to be making a fuss about it, IMHO.

Also, I wonder if the mods here work with mods from other trading forums. I know the trading scene is just starting to mature around here, but it's still in its infancy; therefore, it wouldn't hurt to work with the trade forum mods at anandtech.com, arstechnica.com and hardocp.com. They all have trading forums and active moderators on call to investigate. A move like this could protect CAG from scammers migrating from board to board and it could give other communities notice when a noob scammer starts his career on CAG. All you gotta do is give someone like darksaiyan's IP to a half dozen folks in the collective trading community and he's pretty much shut down.
