SD card problem...

007

CAGiversary!
Ok, so I have to send my Wii in for repair. I was advised to transfer the game saves to an SD card before I do this.

... problem is, I can't do it.

Every time I try to copy the data, it tells me there's already a file with that name and it can't be copied. I have all the updates and it's an official Nintendo SD card.

Any ideas?

Is there a file on the SD card? If so delete it and copy over. If that doesnt work try a different SD card, perhaps you have a bad one.

Well....are there? You can't overwrite so you'll have to delete files first before you copy them if you're trying to update them or something.

BTW, there isn't really an "official" Nintendo SD card, at least not in the same way that there were first party and third party GameCube memory cards or something. It's just a white SanDisk card with a different label. It isn't any different from any other SD card.

Delete any saves that are already on the card, and then transfer.

If that doesn't work, I'd take the card to a PC and format it to wipe it clean, then transfer the saves.

Yeah, I know it's not 'official', but I figured I'd mention it for the obvious compatability issues.

I guess I'll just have to try and reformat it, since I'm well out of the return range on the card at this point. I just find it odd since I've transfered stuff before, like the Channels, just to see if it worked.

Oh well, thanks, guys.

Nobody cares, but formatting took care of the problem. It's odd, though, since it was playing MP3s on ExciteTruck fine, it just wasn't letting me write anything onto the card.

So, great, it works. Now I can go send my Wii away for a week.

The Wii won't overwrite files on the SD card, so if you had previously copied save data for a specific game to that card, it will give that error.
