Seagate 120GB HD $39 BB Thurs-Sat

It counts as a video game deal because it's for PCs, which the last time I check played games and which required HDs when playing games. What a bunch of newbs. Don't start chastising a guy for posting a deal and acting elitist because you have finally signed up.

I for one am going to thanks the OP as I have really been needing an extra HD.

Yes to the Xbox, 99% sure for the PS2.

But, its hardware not software, so it isn't a VG deal.

Either way, thanks for posting the deal OP, very tempting.

atleast its a deal and not some idiot posting he is selling games

Yes, but I have seen plenty of deals in the VG section for accessories, hardware, etc. that could have been considered for other sections. I just don't think that people that just signed up this month should be out and out going after an OP like that one guy did. If he put in the wrong forum, than fine, just say it but don't be rude or act superior about it.

I'll agree with that. Just used to seeing HDs and such deals in the Other Deals forum.

Yes it does.

I bought one from BB for 29.99 AR during Black Friday. It works great with HDloader AND the Crystal Chip that I have in my PS2. No noise and no more loooong loading times for Killzone and Splinter Cell PT!

Oh I'm sorry, did you want it in another forum that you might not have seen?

Considering 2, one for my chipped box(only a 30GB in right now) and one to replace my bad WD drive. They'll work great with PS2s as well, I had a 40GB Seagate in mine. Side note, for putting into XB systems, don't forget the new data cable as well if you haven't already, you'll notice the speed in loading.

how do you know that it will be 40 bucks those days? is there some sale going on or what? any links to the sale ad or w/e? btw, thanks OP

wait...so any external usb hard drive will work with a ps2 slim? I would like to dedicate the hard drive to save game files, but dont need a whopper like over 100 gigs :O

doh then how are people using usb hard drives for there ps2 slim?
No, to the poster above me.

I *think* when BB had their cheap vg sale, it started at midnight central.
Not so much.

The free shipping was the kicker. I would have passed otherwise but, hey, a nice 120 GB for my PS2? I certainly can't complain!

Got 2, one for my Dad's future computer system and one for my external storage, maybe even for the Xbox 360 when I get one. THANKS OP!

No! You guys already made me buy two micros today! I won't do it. Besides, I have a leptop. Then I would need to spend even more money on a USB kit...:bomb:

Okay. I haven't been able to sleep thinking about this. If someone can suggest a good enclosure that is cheap, Maybe I will make myself even poorer...

dude.....you better hurry....this is probably on other deal sites, and is going OOS soon, if it hasn't already

I've been checking. It let's you add 999 items to a cart at a time and there are still at least 999 left. I only have use for it if I buy an expensive enclosure though. Buying one would force me to get an enclosure. That kind of kills the "mega-value" aspect...

well.....if you compare it to pre-made external hard drives it's still a MEEEGA-VALUE!!!! though, and external enclosures aren't that expensive, around $40.

to the one above, i believe you can probably get a 120 gb external hd for 80 bucks from your math, in fact they were selling 160 gb external hds for 90 bucks during black friday and 80 gb external hds for 40 bucks at compusa. Maybe those hd arent as good as this one? correct me if i'm wrong.

I don't know if you can compare this to Black Friday at CompUSA though. I mean how long did those stay in stock for and how many did the stores even have? how long were the lines? how early did those people get up? I think $80 for an external 120gb hard drive is a really good deal.

Seagate makes some of the best hard drives currently i believe, then WD, then Maxtor. I don't know where Fujitsu stands, and IBM hard drives have went down the crapper

Seagate does indeed make some fine drives. They've been far and away the best for at least 4 years now, and I deal with dozens a week as a PC tech/installer. Best quality/speed, and also the best reliability.

I personally own one of this exact drive, and I'm gonna have to pick up another one tomorrow morning at this price.

that makes sense hehe maybe i should finally jump in this deal. Always wanted a hd since all my family have are 2 laptops.

I've been out of the PC scene for some time now, but I need to start buying some core components now to build a new computer. Should I buy this HD or wait and hope to find a cheap SATA drive? Is there any significant difference in speed between an ATA/100 and SATA drive?

Same here, I used to be all about upgrading my computer when I used to build a lot of systems for relatives and friends about 2 years ago and was big on PC gaming, but my urge has died out recently and I need hard drive space.

I currently have a 120GB WD and a 80GB WD SATA.

Chose the SATA over the regular ATA version because the price difference was so minimal at the time, smaller cables for increased airflow, and it was supposedly faster.

I use it to transfer my large chunks of media from my main hard drive and I can personally feel that it is quite a bit faster compared to ATA when copying and moving files to and from the SATA drive.
