When I was about 11 or 10 I bought my first console : a Sega Genesis. At the time I had no idea how to care for it properly which has caused the pin connector for the controllers to be weakened. Some pins are simply bent while others are barely hanging on. I am afraid to stick a controller in becuase I fear they will break off.

All this leads me to my question : can I replace the pins? Is there a way to repair them that is reliable? Maybe soldering the pin toghether?

I hopt to find replacement connectors but I have yet to see any online.

buy a broken genesis a replace the controller ports?

sorry to say but you cant solder a pin back on those connectors...

...have lost too many monitors this way.
Now that I think about it isnt the Genesis the only system with the pins in the system instead of the controller?
Nope.
My Atari 7800 has the exact same thing. Pins in the console.
I would just consider buying a new genesis with nothing extra. I'm sure it's not that expensive.
Come to think of it when I compare my genesis to my Atari... the controller slots look very Identical. I wonder if I could fit.... nah. Im not going to try :)
Ok, so the curiousity got to me and I did it. It fits PERFECTLY. Is it just me... or did Saga rip off Atari's controller slots lol...
