Is the gameplayable without knowing the language? I mean, is there any story knowledge needed outside of repeatedly fighting monsters?

EDIT: Forgot about those mini-reviews on the bottom of the page... looks like its fun without knowing exactly whats going on. Might have to jump on this.
Why can't Ouendan be this price?
because it is a hot selling game

Not really. Ouendan only sold, like, less than 70,000 copies in Japan. Children of Mana outsold it severalfold. :/

i mean it is a popular game for importers. It is one of the top DS game on yeasasia. On the other hand Children of Mana has a 99% chance of getting a US release, so there the demand is not as high.

very very tempting... this didn't get such great reviews though. didn't famitsu give it 20-something?

argghh.. tempting, tempting .. i wanted to purchase a hori screen protector too.

woah .. i stand corrected.

anywho.. i decided to pass and wait for the US release. I ordered the English-Japanese Dictionary for the DS instead.

I actually bought a hori screen protector with this, too, haha. I had one before but I had to take it off and I think I threw it away when I had my DS fixed (dead pixel).

I jumped on this deal because Children of Mana hasn't been announced for US release yet (though it probably will at E3), and I don't think the language barrier would completely ruin the fun factor for an action RPG.

i dunno. i had alot of difficulty with the import Seiken Densetsu 3 because of the language barrier.

hmmm... i thought it was already announced for a July date. i guess not.
I saw these highly discounted in Japan used and a whole lot of them. Is this even a good game?
From what I've heard so far from series fans already it's far better than Legend of Mana, it's quite a bit better than Sword of Mana, but it still falls a little bit short of Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3 due to the fact that the gameplay seems to be primarily mission-based and doesn't have the story like SD2/SD3.

Or does this have a U.S. release date?
Not yet. I expect a release date announced during E3, like what someone said above.
If they don't announce a US release date at E3, I'll pick it up from play-asia .. assuming that it is still cheap
Sale ends at the end of this week
Sale ends at the end of this week
well, odds are they'll put it on sale again at some point.. if they're doing it this soon after release, it doesn't bode well.

Arg, I'd do this if I had a DS, but I don't... I'm gonna pick up a lite when they get cheap or come stateside... but that isn't looking too soon. SO TEMPTED. MUST RESIST >
Why can't Ouendan be this price?
I got Ouendan for less than this. It'd be worth $40, though.

gah. do I wait for this to be announced stateside or get it now for 20 bucks. decisions decisions....

for anyone who has imported an RPG...does it take away from the experience that you have to be reading a translation guide for the entire game?

Are you talking about Touch-Dic, the most poorly named videogame of all time?

My copy was being delivered yesterday to my parents' house, since someone is usually home... but no one was there to sign for it :whistle2:(. Hopefully getting mine today, I'll let you guys know how it is :whistle2:D

Interesting... price only went up to 24.90, looks like they might incrementally move it back up?

This better get a US release date at E3...
