More details:
OK, so after doing some more inquiring about this at work today, the stores on the list of the OP link does in fact have a price matching everything policy. But there is a catch.

For example,

TRU has a game for $59.99. Another retailer has it for $39.99. TRU will price match the game down to $39.99. The catch is you will still have to pay $59.99. The difference in the price will be issued in way of a gift card. In this instance you will pay $39.99 for the game and receive a $20 gift card due to the price match.

Another thing to note also. When an item at TRU gets its price changed, any sales that are attached to that item get voided. You will not be able to price match an item and take advantage of any sales that TRU would be currently running that week.
I dunno, I don't think that is too uncommon of a practice. The Best Buy by me requires that you bring in an ad (print-out or the one from the paper) to price match, I'm pretty sure.

ummm, where do you shop as all big box stores other than best buy require an ad?

From my understanding, this is only supposed to be for baby items. TRU just instituted a new price match policy for baby gear items that they will match any advertised price, either from a print ad, or certain competitor's web sties.

But with the wording of the email, you should be able to push a price match. And as we all well know with some of these stores, they could also just flat out deny the price match too. Stores have only been told to price match baby items, they have not been told it's okay to price match anything else.

Edit: After looking at the web site, it does state "see a team member for details" This is when someone will find out it is not for everything in the store.

No issues with needing an ad for PM'ing at best buy and walmart. I refuse to buy media products from target unless there is no option, such as a target exclusive.

Rather enjoy it this way since they never call to check stock even if it's OOS online. There's just so many Target's/Walmarts/GS in the same areas w/i 25 miles.

I've never had to bring my own copy of an ad to Wal-Mart to price match, they have always just paged up front and had someone at customer service check the ad from their stack of ads. From their website:

*The following are guidelines and limitations:

-We will match any local competitor's advertised price.

-We do not require customers to have the ad with them to honor a competitor's ad.

-Items purchased must be identical to the ad (size, quantity, brand, flavor, color, etc.)

Wal-Mart Ad Match Guarantee

Last time I was at Walmart, they wanted a physical ad to do the PM.

I guess the change above must be semi-new, and it's good that you don't need the ad with you to do the PM because they have it on-hand.
TRU used to match all ad prices about 10 years ago, FYI.
Awesome. Can I borrow your time machine so I can make use of this information?
