Sell my collection now or wait?

MrClark

CAGiversary!
Ive been debating lately on offloading my game collection, or at least parts of it. Im drowning in current and previous gen games I need to play and while Id like to play some of my old stuff I just find myself lacking the time or real interest to dig them up and play.

I need to things like to pay off my credit card, fix up the garage in my house I bought last year and boring normal stuff and the idea of selling my games has been on my mind a lot lately. I just cant decide if its worth it to do so now or wait longer.

Then I cant decide on if I did sell them, how would I do it? My games are probably about 1500. Have a lot of systems in their boxes and such. Like virtual boy in the box with all the games, couple hundred nes games, snes, genesis, master system, game.com and a lot more. Ebay seems like a good avenue but shipping would be a pain, I have mom and pop stores around here but I doubt Id get what they are worth considering they have to make a profit on them, little hesitant of using craigslist and even then chances of someone willing to buy a collection at a decent price is slim.

I just keep looking at the systems sitting there, and the dozens of plastic tubs of games all packed up nice and neat and wonder what I should do.

why not post it on craigslist for the amount you want (or even a little higher to leave room for negotiation) then wait to see if you get an offer that's acceptable to you.  Doesn't sound like you're in a rush to sell so you can wait and see if you get a price that works for you.  You'll probably get some lowball and ridiculous offers but it's done through email so it's easy enough to just say no.

Shipping in general will just be a pain now with the increased pricing all across the board.

You could always try to sell some of your stuff here.

People like myself enjoy buying a huge lot, rather than just parts of it, and if anything it'll probably be better than Craigslist anyways since you can at least have a better idea of who you are working with here, and possibly even find people in your area that might be willing to do a pickup since it's such a massive collection.

Might be a better idea to portion out your collection too, since buying an entire collection may be fairly impractical.

Do you kind of have a starting list of the games you would be wanting to part with?

As I've noted, I'm a total hoarder  myself, so I'd probably be interested in a good chunk of that collection if I could have an idea of the items there.

Guess I could post some pics of my games list. I have a notebook with every game I own in alphabetical order written in it broken up by system since you're curious to take a gander.

It is free to post on cragslist, so the only downside is someone lowballing you.
I guess I could try that and see what comes through. Just been a pain in the ass to find real people really interested. So many quite responding, never show up, talk insanity, or say "500 bucks? Ill give you 17. When can I come get it?" hehe.

Now the task of finding out what my stuff is worth so I dont get cheated. I know my key ones like halloween on the atari 2600 I have the box and manual for, earthbound, panzer dragoon saga, etc.

I need to offload my damn promo stuff first though. Like club nintendo junk, sound track cds, figures, pre order stuff and so on first. Ive frmly decided thats all going. I have everything on display in my game room that I actually want and like and the rest is just clutter to me. Might sell that on ebay though.
