Selling Rock Band Instruments

Duckbutt

CAGiversary!
I'm not sure where to post this, so if I didn't put this in the right forum, please just move it.

I'm thinking about selling/trading my Rock Band drums and guitar before Rock Band 2 comes out for PS3 next month. Does anybody know much you can get from Gamestop or GameCrazy for either one of them?

I would go the eBay route but I don't have a box large enough for the drums and both the drums and guitar don't seem to be moving on eBay either.

I'll update my selling/trade list in case anybody wants to make a deal for them here.

$80 for both the guitar and drums? That would be pretty nice, it's pretty much in line with what you could get on eBay. Let me know if you do sell your instruments at GameCrazy. My local GameCrazy is like 20-30 minutes away, so I'd rather not drive out there to find out I'll only get $20.

That's actually not that bad. You don't need the Rockband 1 disc anymore or the inferior wired instruments if you buy the Rock Band 2 bundle and just import the RB1 songs

I just checked at my game crazy and it is $15 for the drums and $20 for the wired guitar. This is for the 360 version.

That's ok, but you can't import until you've got RB2, and the price will probably go down once the PS3 version hits. Thanks for the info though.

It's probably the same for the PS3 version, if not better since the PS3 guitar is wireless. I'm surprised they give you less for the drums, I think the retail new for $70, while the guitars are $50.

Wait, they got $80 including the game? Wasn't planning to trade that in.

Anyone know how much the bundle would net you sans game disc?

IIRC, the drums dropped to $50 retail.

So while I was on the hunt for NHL 09, I uncovered some new info on this subject.

Gamestop is running a promo where you get an additional 20% on trade ins used on a reserve for Rock Band 2. I'm sure this was brought up in the deals forum, but I never noticed it. The guy that worked there told me the deal was only good this week, as they change deals weekly (I don't know if that's true, I typically avoid Gamestop as much as possible since they bought out EB Games).

Also, he said the PS3 version would fetch more than the other versions since the drum kit's priced is viewed as a "controller" and the PS3 controllers have a higher value.

Does anybody know what you get at Gamestop for the instruments? Or how about what you get for a Sixaxis or Dualshock 3? I'm thinking about biting on this deal.
what you guys mean by import RB1 songs? you mean DL content?
you can pay $4 to import that songs the are included in the rock band disc to rock band 2. You can go to the options in rock band 1 and choose import

No, they patched Rock Band to let you rip all the songs off the disk onto your HDD. That way you can play them in RB2 and not have to keep the RB1 disk. I think the patch has only come out for the 360 (I did it as soon as it was updated) so far, but it's coming for PS3. Three songs won't import (Paranoid, Run to the Hills, and Enter Sandman) because of licensing issues but the rest are ripped right to your HDD.

three of my favorite songs and three extra reasons why I'm not buying Rock Band 2. Main reason is there are better games (IMO) coming out

Enter Sandman is obvious why it's not going to import to Rock Band 2, why Harmonix couldn't renew licenses for two covers seems odd, but there is DLC for Black Sabbath, Metallica and Iron Maiden so that makes it a little easier to swollow.

I've seen drum kits at several GameStops, and according to GameStop.com, the deal is good until 9/30. BUT, I just did a google on trade ins and I read on GameFAQS.com that GameStop is now giving $9 for the mic and disc and $5 for the guitar. The 20% doesn't seem like much a deal anymore.

$9 for the mic? That doesn't sound right, since mine sells them used for $12.99.

I was able to flip my Rockband 1 SE kit for $125 on craigslist this week. That is my number one place for selling/trading games lately.
