My Playstation 3 system is semi-broken. It works fine and has never not read a disk but it won't power on via the system, only by using the controller. And I can't eject discs either. This is an older model PS3, without PS2 playback. 60 or 80 gb? This may be an easy fix, if so you can get a good deal on a PS3. I only am accepting money (to go towards a new PS3 or a trade up to a PS3 slim). No CMLs.
 
Not sure you're aware, but even if you're not under warranty if you send your PS3 in to be repaired by Sony they will give you the option of upgrading to a Slim instead of receiving your same model back. I'm currently doing this myself since my launch 60GB PS3 got another YLOD - the total cost including shipping is $140, which is actually cheaper than a straight-up repair/refurb. Of course you'll need to send them your own console to do this, so you might want to consider that before you sell it.
 
How much do you want for the system?

I am new to ps3 and would like to experiment.

I am home bound and have more time than money.
