Sensor Bar wire already snapped, how can I protect it?

Dezzy

CAGiversary!
Somehow the wire has broken already. Not sure if I pulled it somehow or the cats decided to chew it.

Does anyone know a good way to protect that thin little wire? Is there some wire cover I could get, or maybe an easy homemade solution?

I just ordered a new bar for $10 and I want this one to last. Making more own ghetto sensor bar isn't something I wanna do.

The replacement is already on the way thanfully. I'm just wondering what I could do to keep that wire from getting broken so easily in the future. It's so freakin' thin! Maybe I'll answer my own question and try google for some kinda wire covers.

Since the wire already snapped on your current one, maybe you should try that 9V battery trick to make it into a 'wireless' sensor bar. There was a post about it in the AVS Forums a few days ago.

Try coating it with electrical tape, or some heat sink cover.

Electric tape is too thin for cat proofing. Get some of that heavy duty industrial duct tape and wrap around it.

Radio Shack sells some pretty thick tubing you could put over it.

Tape or tubing the wire is probably what I'm gonna try to do.. Here's hoping I can get 'em cheap. ;)

Electric tape shouldn't cost more than $1
Tubing shouldn't cost more than $3.

Try some electrified tape. Get a little bit of current in there and your cats will probably not find it to their liking.

Ah crap, the sensor bars are on backorder. :(

Maybe I'll try attaching the wires back together somehow, kinda like how speaker wires work. :)

I was thinking the same thing. I would like to see someone give this a try. You are the perfect candidate!

Are you could just go here:

Already did the 9v mod for my brother and it works just fine. The wires are so small that I can't see using anything but solder to join the wires. Also added a switch so he wouldn't have to remove the 9v each time. Total cost: $5.
