September Surprise?

Maybe we'll get the real version of Super Mario Bros. 2 for the Virtual Console. A little competition for Halo 3.

It's going to be two announcements: An additional required friend code to be extra certain no one gets molested and a new mini-game compilation with no on-line play.

I'd be relatively surprised if there wasn't something announced/made available on Monday or Tuesday, even if nothing more than a token response to Halo.

Did he say September 2007?

And we need to have the two most common troll jokes....

N!NT3ND0 SI GO'N 3D P@RTY!!!!

and

M3G@T0N!!!!!!!!!

You should hang out around here more often. We just can't get tired of your tired comments.

It is kind of funny to watch, though. Check out Scobie's posts when the Wii was initially coming out. He was so excited. He gradually became more and more disillusioned to the point that he trolls the Wii forums.

Seriously, man, we know you are disappointed in the Wii. I can even understand it to a point. But what I don't understand is why you keep coming into threads about a system you don't like and making weak-ass comments.

Yeah, I was a *huge* GameCube supporter. I thought it was honestly the best last gen home console. I had extraordinarily high hopes for the Wii which have been completely crushed, then burned, the ashes raked then scattered over a field of clover which was then carpet bombed.

Pretty much what I see is a co-dependent fanbase that at its worst was demanding everyone support last-gen ports because they were M-rated in the hopes of avoiding the "kiddy" branding that Nintendo carries like a scarlet letter, and which can muster the strength to juice 7 pages out of a thread on Carnival Games months later.

I come around here from time to time to see if there's anything really interesting that I may be missing since I'm not that up on industry news any more. I'm not getting any jollydwarf-style pleasure out of my notably infrequent appearances around here, believe me.

Sorry for leaving you guys behind and sorry for wasting your time or worse -- being just another sign post along the way that says the Wii isn't really where you want to be if you're a serious gamer this gen.

I'll just browse IGN for Nintendo news from now on and leave y'all to your chit chat about Dewy's Adventure.

So you're going to be disillusioned and stupid?

I mean I knew you were one...

Well really I knew you were part of the other as well.

The surprise is that the Wii will be sold for $150, but so early adopters don't feel left out they will get $50 credit for Apple Online Store to be more like them.

The surprise is that Nintendo is going to re-invent the Dr Mario franchise. They are going to take Dr Mario, and use Trauma Center controls on him.
Dr Mario: OB/GYN

I'm excited to use the Wii-mote to perform a pap smear ^_^

I'm going to guess extended SD card support or a USB HDD.

If they wanted to grab headlines on Monday they would release Goldeneye. I'm sure it would be expensive to get all of the licenses nessecary, but I would think it would be worth it in the end.

Thanks for understanding. Don't let the door hit you in the Vag on the way out ;)

I dunno, this would've been my first hint:

While I pretty much agree with your assessment, having only touched the Wii for Zelda, Metroid and a few overpriced VC games, I think you're writing it off to soon.

Pretty much every console the past 2 or 3 generations has sucked balls the first year it was out. So I don't really bash the Wii, as much as I kick myself for being an idiot and buying yet another console at launch to mostly gather dust for a year.

Definitely will wait for the first price drop every generation from here on out.

My guess is that it's the SSMB online play announcement. Keep in mind this was a one-liner Reggie threw out in one interview, so you shouldn't expect anything mind-blowing.

Maybe it was the Nsider forum shutting down that was the surprise? What better way to surprise people than pulling the plug :).
