Shining Soul II:
Man, this game looks fun. Anyone have any experience with it? Better yet, anyone have it and want to trade it >:)?

Summon Night 2:
The same... I just realized I really want it. Is it good?

Great time-waster and Diablo clone. People talk getting Children of Mana or what the hell ever they think is good but they always ignore this classic.

Yeah, I've heard enough bad things about the Mana series of late (I think Legend of Mana is what pulled the plug for me). The more and more I see of Shining Soul II and hear of it I want to get the darn game. I spend a fair amount of time on the road so it would be great to have a lengthy, fun game like this to just whip out any time I want to play.

I just picked this game up last week as part of the b2g1free sale at GS. I got Shining Soul II, Lunar Legend, and Mario & Luigi SS. I havent played any of them yet, but Shining Soul II is at the front of the list.

If anyone has Shining Soul II and is wanting to trade it, I'll trade Legend of Zelda: TP (GC) for the SS II and $20 if complete ($25 if cart only). Just sayin'....

Or.. Zelda for SS II, Mario and Luigi: SS, and Scurge: Hive (even if all are cart only!). Sorry if this is looking like a trade thread, I'm not really intending that. I just really, really want to take part in such a highly revered game!

It's a fun game, but has some pretty glaring flaws. Dungeon design is bland and uninteresting, but not randomized, so you get the worst of both worlds when replaying a particular dungeon. And there's way too much blah plot/dialogue. Wading through a half hour of pointless text at the start just to play around with a different class is completely counter to what this style of game should be about. Still, amongst portable action dungeon crawlers it doesn't have much competition.

I really enjoyed both Swordcraft Story games. They play similarly to Tales of Phantasia, although its battle system is faster and more streamlined (and it's all around better than the shoddy GBA port of ToP). If that doesn't tell you anything, think of a typical jRPG but with Street Fighter-esque battles. You also get to forge your own weaponry, which is pretty nifty, and in Swordcraft Story 2 there are tons of customization options. The story is pretty blah, but the localization is of Atlus' typical high standards with a solid script.

Both of those Summon Night games dropped to $20 new, $17 used at EB/GS a while back. You can still find copies tho, I see them all the time.

I played the first one and it was alot of fun. I havent gotten to the second game yet, although I hear its even better. :)

I tried Summon Night 2 briefly. I thought Paper Mario talked a lot. I spent like 30 minutes just reading reams of entertaining enough dialogue. First 45 minutes of the game? TWO BATTLES.

Yeah the beginning was pretty text heavy. It calms down a lot after that.

That's good to know. It took me two times to get into Final Fantasy X because the first hour or two is more watching than playing... something I had little patience for at the time. I think I'd be ok for this though.

If it's anything like Summon Night 1, the game will be lots of battles and dungeon exploring, then some more story, more battles, more story.

It is an excellent game though, haven't yet played Summon Night 2 but if it's anything like 1, it will be great.
