SHIT! My PS2 is screwed up.

For the past few weeks, my PS2 has been making this "clicking" noise, and been freezing more and more often. Now today it really started messing up. I put in a brand-goddamn-new copy of Gradius V in, and after about 10 minutes of play the friggin' thing freezes. So I reset the console, take out my disc, and low and behold, the disc has a bunch of marks on it and no longer works. I now get a disc read error for that disc. It doesn't work on a friend's PS2, either.

What caused this bullshit? There's $30 down the drain thanks to Sony...Any way I can get this problem fixed?

if you still have a warrenty they should send you a package to send it to them in. I am not sure but when my PS1 stopped working, i had to send it in for a modchip to them, and they gave me two brand new games just for having to wait a week to get it back.

Holy shit, your PS2's fucked up? Damn, man, you must be pretty unlucky, that's a rare occurance...

EDIT: This post is just in general jest, no fanboy bashing intended.

acutally you don't need to have ur warranty to sned it into sony. I had my ps2 since last november and i called them up recently to tell them of my DRE's and they said they would fix it for free, id go that route, rather than openning up ur ps2 or anything

Yeah, call them up and ask about getting it repaired. Remember to mention all those good things they like to hear, particularly that you never use third party accessories. Sony "fixed" mine for free when I got DREs (started giving me trouble a few months later, and I eventually got a Slim PS2, but they tried), even though it was out of warranty.
