Should Elmo and Sesame Street be given the "death penalty"

From all accounts, they did not. They placed the guy on admin leave the minute they received the allegations and investigated it.

So completely different situations. If they knowingly harbored him or ignored allegations, then it would be a complete different matter. Also, I'm not entirely convinced any of the allegations are true. One guy already recanted. The new guy could just be a fame whore. So too soon to judge the man.

I think the Sheldon guy is kind of shady. He's gone back and forth on his allegations. The Cecil dude is just an oddball...

At any rate. If the evidence shows that Kevin Clash did indeed futz with kids (granted filming and production is in Queens and statutory in NY is 16 right?) then he should get the same punishment as Sandusky.

If he broke the law then he should be punished, simple as that. Whether or not they keep him on doing elmo, that's their choice. Although at this point I'd say he's pretty much done sticking his hand up muppets.

The allegations were pretty horrible, especialy with what I'd consider more fame than he's ever had with that sensational documentary Being Elmo. When the first one was proven to be a gay relationship instead of an underage gay relationship, that was a relief, and I admire Clash for not making his sexuality a part of his job, his public persona, or a topic he felt compelled to talk about until the accuser came out. Gay or straight, I could do with far less coverage of what someone likes to stick their dick in. As long as it's legal, go gets your rocks off, just don't tell me about it.

This second guy seems like a kook. I suppose Clash is making the right decision in retiring from Sesame Street, but it's a shame that his sexual affairs are what brought it on.

Haha, Both were after my time, but I swear, some of the weird crap my kids watch? I'd be begging for a gay Teletubby over goddamn Caillou. That effeminate, whining Canadian fuck wit!
The jokes are going to write themselves on this one, holy shit.
What do Kevin Clash and Elmo have in common?
-They've both had men's hands up their asses

All this time we thought Bert and Ernie were gay. Apparently it was the red fuzzy muppet who loved being tickled. Who'd a thunk?

Up until now, the gayest fuzzy red thing in entertainment was Clay Aiken.

That's all I've got, admittedly with only about 2 minutes of thought on the subject. The pro's could do much better. South Park will be interesting in a few weeks.

(Edit-and like many opportunists that try to make cheap jokes about a public figure like I just did, I really admire Clash professionally. Such an incredibly talented, inspirational dude. I meant it when I said that I was upset that his bedroom activities has played such a major role in his career now due to public outcry, not Clash's public statements or public activities.)

Allegations by fame-mongering creeps do not a Sandusky make. First guy recanted and the second guy totally seems like a me-too out for quick cash and minor celebrity.

edit: Be classier.. You realize gay people exist on the internet right?

You realize sarcasm and insensitivity exists on the Internet too, right?

On a more courteous level, there are few things that are off limits when it comes to comedy. I'm not saying I'm a good comedian...or even a performing comedian anymore, nor am I saying there is anything high brow or particularly clever about the three I just posted. I was merely following Strell's post with how easy it is to come up with them.

I can laugh heartily at myself, my beliefs, and my lifestyle, and wouldn't bitch about a person trying to make jokes about any of those topics. I'd say it's real low to make jokes about a person's family, but hell, even that has been done by people like Bill Cosby and Bernie Mac.

Nothings off limits in comedy. In fact , I'm pretty sure that was written down on tablets that were then brought down from on top of a mountain by George Carlin

Haha, indeed. I think the only Commandment is "Thou shalt not steal another comic's material and call it your own, Dane Cook and Carlos Mencia." The tablets were very specific.
