Should I buy a PS3 now or wait?

Hi I`m new in the forum.

My 360 broke so I decided to try PS3, a couple of friends told me to wait for Gamescon on August. Is the price of the PS3 going to drop?

Right now where can I find the cheapest PS3?

I'm curious about this too. Thinking about finally getting a PS3 soon. Should have close to enough money after selling some of my yard sale finds this weekend.

I would suggest waiting until black friday... you'll probably get at least two games with it at a potentially lower price... maybe tax free from Amazon depending on what state you live in.

Good idea.

Might want to also either borrow one from a friend or find a place that rents them. Think Family Video used to rent out systems for $10 a week for people to try them out. Not sure anymore though, I stopped using them.

I don't know how much you played Xbox, but PS3 is a big change, so probably should test one out first. I played 360 for a couple years before buying a PS3 and I hated it. Key feature missing is party chats (along with several others). I also couldn't get used to the controller. Almost bought an adapter so I could use the 360 one lol

Like Tolietham said, wait until Black Friday before buying one. It'll probably be so cheap or come with a bunch of stuff that you won't even care if you like it or not.
If you want one sooner, try it out first to make sure you like it before paying a lot.

Wait unless you want component cables. The new PS3's aren't going to have Blu-ray playback in HD through component.

I'd say get it now. A lot of stores are offering gift card deals when you purchase a gaming console, so that's a bit of a deal. Or you can wait till black friday and pray to god until then that you're one of the lucky ones out of thousands of other people also wanting a good deal.

Ditto. After buying it, I spent months regretting my purchase. It's lacking so many features that I'm used to and the GUI is awful, especially in the store. I especially hate the lack of demos (not every game has a demo like on XBLA). I was very bitter about PS3 for a long time and even now, I feel that the 3DS (which was almost the same price) was a much more worthwhile purchase despite being this tiny little thing. I have finally come to really enjoy my PS3, though. After much reluctance, I bought some PSN games and most of them turned out to be pretty good. And now I have a decent library of PS3 exclusives (I get all multi-platform games for 360).

The PS3 still doesn't feel very welcoming to me, but I'm glad I purchased it. It's certainly not worth $300 to me, but I know some people would disagree vehemently. It just all depends on your tastes and what you're looking for in a system.

I don't know how anyone can like the PS3 controllers, though. I think the PS2 controllers are great, but these PS3 ones feel so cheap, light, and just...off. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what it is that makes them feel so uncomfortable to me. And be careful if you're an angry gamer 'cause they aren't very durable.
