Should I buy MGS 3 for $37 or wait?

DangerDave

CAGiversary!
Target has abunch of new games for 37, thats a pretty good deal. But I'm thinking of waiting till it goes Greatest Hits and save myself 17 bucks. About a how long after a game like this is released does Sony release the Greatest Hits edition?
Anyone here think they will release a uber edition; like substance or integral?

It's not up to Sony; it's up to Konami, the game's publisher. But, for a game to technically be a "Greatest Hit," it has to have sold at least 400k copies and been available for about 9 months.

Hmm.. Well, waiting 9 months isn't worth saving 17 bucks. But maybe it doesn't have to go greatest hits for it to be 20 bucks. Scorch, do you remember about how long it took MGS2 to go for around 20?
Anyone know how long it took for MGS 2 Substance to come out? Maybe they'll do the same thing again.

It's a great (possibly the best on PS2) game, but it will still be a great game in a few months when it is below $10. Just wait.

I'm still holding out in case something like Substance comes out. >_<

Heh, I can wait a while for MGS3 anyway. Too many backlogged games.

It depends if you replay Metal Gear games.IF you play them through several times, I say go for it, as the game is amazing and you will get a lot of playtime out of it. It is highly replayable and very enjoyable.

I talked myself into getting it and traded it in the next day. I REALLY don't see what all the hype is about, but to each their own...WAIT

Some people have odd expectations. Below $10 in a few months? Not the slightest chance.

I would say, "yes, get it now!", but I'm a huge MGS fan, so my opinion is a little bias. ^_^

I got my copy while Sears had it for $39.99. I had a $5 off coupon and it was on a Saturday where they had the 10% off everything sale. So I actually only played

Alot of people i guess don't really "get it" but for those of us who did, the last 5 hours were loaded with some of the best moments ever.
Seriously though, know what you're getting into before you buy it. Those who like to just run and gun are gonna be disappointed to the max because this isn't one of those games. This is basically for the hardcore stealth fan. Likewise, I wouldn't recommend playing it until you go through the first 2 MGS games; but then again that's just my opinion.
I totally liked this game, I thought it was one of the best on the PS2 and the best in the Metal Gear series. Just be aware that it's not for the casual gamer and it's a take it or leave it type of game.

Like I said, to each their own....I "get it" but I just don't "like" it ;) I love some stealth games....Theif was fun, as were all of the Splinter Cell games IMO. Heck, I loved the first Metal Gear on NES and the first one on PS1 was neat. I was really enjoying MGS2 till that jackass Raiden showed up and then I had no more interest to play it. As for MGS3..I just don't like the camera angle or something in this game. Also, it seems so restrictive. In the first swamp I got frustrated cause you couldn't "go anywhere", you have to stay on the paths...thats the same reason I didn't care for Fable after waiting for it for 4 years. I just like a bit more freedom in my games. Like it...don't like it...its all the same. Play what you like. I'm glad that all of you folks that enjoy it do....just not my cup of tea.

I agree that it is the best in the Metal Gear series. It's an excellent game.
