Rent it, I thought it was worth about the $6 it cost me.
I talked myself into getting it and traded it in the next day. I REALLY don't see what all the hype is about, but to each their own...WAIT
Alot of people i guess don't really "get it" but for those of us who did, the last 5 hours were loaded with some of the best moments ever.
Seriously though, know what you're getting into before you buy it. Those who like to just run and gun are gonna be disappointed to the max because this isn't one of those games. This is basically for the hardcore stealth fan. Likewise, I wouldn't recommend playing it until you go through the first 2 MGS games; but then again that's just my opinion.
I totally liked this game, I thought it was one of the best on the PS2 and the best in the Metal Gear series. Just be aware that it's not for the casual gamer and it's a take it or leave it type of game.
Like I said, to each their own....I "get it" but I just don't "like" it

I love some stealth games....Theif was fun, as were all of the Splinter Cell games IMO. Heck, I loved the first Metal Gear on NES and the first one on PS1 was neat. I was really enjoying MGS2 till that jackass Raiden showed up and then I had no more interest to play it. As for MGS3..I just don't like the camera angle or something in this game. Also, it seems so restrictive. In the first swamp I got frustrated cause you couldn't "go anywhere", you have to stay on the paths...thats the same reason I didn't care for Fable after waiting for it for 4 years. I just like a bit more freedom in my games. Like it...don't like it...its all the same. Play what you like. I'm glad that all of you folks that enjoy it do....just not my cup of tea.
