Should I get a GBA-to-Cube Link cable?

I'm new to having a Gameboy (just got an SP) and am trying to decide whether to get a Link cable to connect to the Cube. I don't know anyone else who plays games--so I know I don't need a GBA-GBA link cable--but since I have Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime and Fusion, and Zelda WW--I'm tempted to get the cable to hook up to my Gamecube.

I think I have read that with Animal Crossing you can only access the Island if you do NOT turn your Gameboy off after linking with the Cube. I think the Island is cool and all--but if I have free time to play at home (where my Gamecube is located)--I'd rather play the full game on the Cube than bother with the Gameboy.

Does this also apply to the NES games you can upload to the GB SP?? I think I would pay the $5 for a cable if it meant I could have Excitebike and Baloon Flight sitting on my SP whenever I want them--but if I have to have kept the SP turned on, well, then I might as well just play them on the Cube!

Any advice is appreciated

the games are cleared off the memory of the system when it is shut off and only one game can be stored at any point. As far as the island, it is ok as it has unique fruit and Wario Woods is on it.

Overall I never used it as much as I thought I would. Worth having, but then again I am still waiting on Zelda : 4 swords to get more use out of it
 
Hmmm. Thanks for the info! I'm disappointed that there is no way to keep access to the NES games...while it would be neat to visit the Island for Novelty's sake...that just isn't worth $5 to me. So, I guess I'll pass on this one....although I'll probably pick it up when they get super-cheap in a couple years due to the introduction of a new console (I keep all my games--so I'm sure I'll have it ) :)

I should probably note that I did *not* grow up on NES--so the nostalgia factor isn't there. I had a few Game Watches and a 2600 Atari--but no other system until the SNES.

i was very big on Animal Crossing, so it was worth it to me. it all depends on personal preference and if you think you will use it or not.
 
By the way, Four Swords Adventures will be packaged with a free GBA/GC Link Cable, so if you were thinking about getting the game, wait til June 7.
 
I'd get it, it's only $9 or so and you can use it to unlock stuff in various games. I rarely use mine, but it's nice to have in case I need it.
 
Yeah, I agree w/ scsg75. I paid 20 bucks for 2 link cables (Really un CAG-like, but I was desperate at the time), and I'm really pleased w/ them. There are times when I'm kinda mad that Nintendo made me shell out for 2 (I got FF:CC after preorder), but it's all worth it when you experience the awesomeness of playing FF:CC multiplayer. Worthless single, magical together ^^
 
I do appreciate the continued advice! I think I am still on the fence though. I have *no one* around me to play with--so I probably won't be getting FF CC or Four Swords....But I am so curious to see the Island in Animal Crossing.......

Well, I do enjoy playing the NES games much more on a GBA/ SP (I also grew up in Sega Genesis era, so I'm not really that crazy for 8-bit), and although you have to leave your SP on to keep the games to memory, note that you can also put the SP to sleep. It saves a lot more battery, and I theorize you could probably even leave it on overnight w/ not too much of a problem. I haven't personally tried, but it's nifty. Finally, I highly suggest you invest in an E-reader if you're that into Animal Crossing. It adds a lot to the game, and it's not as expensive as it used to be. Just my 2-cents!
 
I bought it just for the Island in Animal Crossing. I thought it was neat being able to explore a new area in the town and meeting a new villager. It was worth $5 for me to get to the Island.

I used my SP to play the NES games from Animal Crossing. I had Excitebike on my SP for almost 2 weeks, using sleep mode to turn it off. So the battery will last forever (seemingly) on sleep with the one NES game on it.

Cool! Is this preorder like the FF:CC one or do you get it just by buying the game? Now I'm really glad I never bought that last GBA link Cable, I had one for animal crossing, got one for FF:CC, and bought another one so my friend can play.
 
My bricks and mortar Best Buy has the GBA to Gamecube cable for $4.99 (an offbrand of course). that's the cheapest I've seen it.
