Should I get a new or used Gamecube?

Okay, I think I'm finally going to be able to get a Cube by trading in some of my PS2 games and getting the extra 30% credit at Gamestop.

After I trade in all my games, I'm going to be getting $85.80. Well, used Cubes are $79.99 and new ones are $99. I don't really wanna pay any extra money up front right now, besides buying a game, unless I really have to.

My question is do you guys really think I should spend the extra money to get the new one, or should a used one be okay with the GS warranty? I've had a couple of used Cubes and they never gave me a problem, so I'm hoping a used one at GS won't either.

Thanks for your help, fellas.

The used Cube will work fine, trust me. Nintendo isn't Sony. But why don't you pay the extra $15 and support Nintendo with your sale? I can't blame you if you want to be a cheapass about it, though. ;-)

the system should not have any problem, but I have had bad luck with Nintendo controllers.

The A buttons on all my corded controllers seem to be very soft after extended use. The Wavebird fixed this as I have not encountered this problem.

All I am saying is I would check the controller before you sign up to get a used Cube.

well if i were you i would try to see if you can trade it to gamecrazy. Beacuse they give you free game rentals with the purcahse of gamecube. But if you go to gamestop get the used one. They work fine.

I was thinking the same thing, but Gamestop has a 30 day warranty, don't they?

I had the same thing, except it was my b-buttons. Get wavebirds out the wazoo. They are completely super-awesome.

What if the previous owner had disgusting habits (I'll let you guys picture it with your own imaginations) and did something with the GC?

Just being a little pessimistic here :D

They probably do, but who knows with electronics. You are talking about $15, so I think its worth it to get new. $50 and you have a dilema!

Damn you BigNick, why must you be the voice of reason?

I may just go ahead and get the new one just to be on the safeside. I know I wouldn't want to hold a controller that some dude was letting rest on his ballsack just days before he traded it in.

Okay, now I have a new question for you guys.

What should be the first game I should get. You know I'm already a major cheapass, so what is the best cheapass Cube game out there?

I got a used one at electronics boutique because you can renew your warranty every six months for around $11.00 :)

You could have a lifetime warranty on it :)

Get a refurbed. They come in a white box and are reconditioned by Nintendo themselves. I had one and it worked perfectly until I traded it in.

And the best cheapass game, by far, is Eternal Darkness. Best game on the system, in fact. You can pick it up for $10 at most stores.

Damn right bitch. Though I would now say Tales of Symphonia is the best game on the system, it sure isn't cheapass.

I'm assuming you're mostly interested in cheap GC exclusives?
Metroid Prime
Eternal Darkness
Star Wars: Rogue Leader
Pikmin

I haven't played it yet, but I've heard that REmake is one of the superior versions.

Hey I got an Indigo Gamecube I bought a few months back and used it two or three times. PM me if interested, I have been looking to sell it for a while.

Well, we had some friends come over last night, so I never got a chance to go out and get the Cube. I'm thinking that a refurb might be a good choice. Refurbs are usually new systems with defects that were fixed and not really used systems that were sent to the manufacturer to get fixed, right?

PMed.

Hell yeah for tales. Just got one thanks to some CC games and a fre LOZ collector's disc I had left over, so I got TOS and Drunken Master on Dvd. Suh-weet! Also, pick up Skies, Mario, Windwaker, Beyond Good and Evil, Mario Kart...hell, ALL first party games, the RE remakes and whatever else catches your eye. If you're not sure, just rent. as for used cubes, when I worked for the devil-I mena, Gamestop, I never saw any problems with them. Nintendo systems are durable as hell. But I hate GS, so get a new one so they only make $5, ok?
