Should I get Battlefield 3 for PC or 360?

Basically what it comes down to for me is the graphics/performance. I don't care about Origin/Xbox Live, I don't care about how many players each one can handle, I just want to know how my computer will run it.

This my laptop:

I am not an expert on PC gaming, but I am assuming this will be able to handle the game at relatively high settings (not max, but high). So ultimately it SHOULD look better on my laptop than it will on my Xbox, correct? Let me know what you think!

Wait for reviews. One version might be clearly better. If that's not the case, though, your computer will make it look a good deal better.

Oh yeah, that should be able to play most current games real nice. I haven't heard anything specifically about Battlefield's performance yet, but hopefully it won't take too much more a toll on PCs than any other shooter today.

Anyway, it's got a great CPU, a high-performance graphics card, plenty of system and video memory, the thing is, it doesn't display at 1080p; the maximum screen resolution of this laptop is 1600x900, which on the downside means your games won't be quite as crisp/high resolution as you might like (though I'm sure you won't specifically notice this with your naked eye), on the plus side it means your games won't be able to run in their highest resolution, which means better performance! But it seems like a great laptop all in all, and being that it is a laptop, I wouldn't expect it to be able to play most new games on their highest resolution settings anyway.

The only distinction I would make between xbox vs pc is do you have the other pieces necessary to make pc gaming the best experience: a comfortable chair, a nice mouse and keyboard, headset? Your hardware is good to go, so those are the only things I'd worry about. And c'mon, 64 player multiplayer on pc? No contest! That's gotta be tried at least once. :D

Yeah I'm just torn for a few reasons.

I want it on Xbox because one of my closest friends said he will get it because his PC can't handle it. Problem with that, is that we have been talking about playing several games together over the past long time, recently Dead Island and Gears of War 3, yet it just never seems to happen. So I think I should get it to benefit me now. I would love to be connected to Xbox Live, talk to friends in party chat, get achievements, etc, but that is not necessary.

As far as online for PC, I think I'll use my wired 360 controller anyway (not a fan of keyboard/mouse, believe it or not), and I have some $3 headset from eBay, I can always upgrade that.

Beta comes out Friday for both PC and 360. I am trying both to see which works better.

You may want to make your decision before release date to get in on the free map packs.

I most definitely agree with this gentleman, give it some time to see which you like best while playing the Beta for both PC and Xbox. The graphics will be better on PC and like previously stated the PC-version will have 64-player matches - with bigger maps obviously to house the extra people.
BUT, if you're looking for that social-online-gaming feel then XBL might be your better bet. Also considering the controller issue it seems you'll be more comfortable just sticking to some good ol' controller and headset. But ofcourse try them
Both out and see what YOU think! Oh and BTW the Beta is out for everyone TODAY first, no need to wait until tomorrow. I'm actually downloading it as I write this to you.

HAVE FUN! Maybe I'll see ya on XBL!!!

The XBL Beta was absolutely awful. Seemed clear that the game was demanding more than the 360 was capable of giving... unsure if this is just poor Beta quality or a foreshadowing of what to expect from the Xbox 360 version. I don't have a PC capable of playing the game, so I can't comment on the PC version. Best bet is to download it on both, play around, and see which one you like better.

I had a chance to try it out for PC, and it looks amazing at near-max graphics.

Worst part is that i hate playing with a mouse/keyboard :/

I heard its useless using a controller online for a competitive game like BF3, just because the keyboard/mouse gives you an accuracy advantage.

I played beta on pc a few months back and it was sick on pc, but I have a nice gaming setup. so I will still end up buying it for both because most of my friends play on 360.

It doesn't give you an advantage if you don't like using it...

I have a laptop as well that plays this game very well on all High settings (the beta at least.) I also downloaded the xbox360 beta as well.

In my own personal opinion, Im enjoying the 360 version much more. Although in the final version the content will be less (smaller people count in matches and smaller maps) in the 360 version, im just having much more fun with it.

The beta seems to be a lot more far along on the pc version though. Lot less bugs compared to the 360 which has a ton.

I played the PC beta now for a few days, and just was bored by it. Non stop camping and spawn camping (I know, but every game I played was like that, just might of been luck of the draw) and I hate using keyboard. I used the gamepad on it, but you get totally dominated by kb/m users.

The 360 version, although some camping and spawn camping, the games seemed to move along a lot better. Plus, I like the fact that I can play on m 47" tv with surround sound on my recliner.

To play on my laptop, I either have to lay on my bed with one of those weird laptop trays, or sit at the kitchen table, which isnt comfortable for long gaming sessions.

Im hoping they release the Caspian Borders map in the beta sometime soon, so I can judge what its like on a map thats not infantry only.

But so far my bid is with the 360 version, even though I know it will be inferior to the pc in terms of graphics and game sizes. I would suggest you try both Beta's, since they are both available to the public. Also, just remember, its a beta, not the final game. A lot of the bugs ect ect will be tuned/fixed. Right now the dev's want input, so dont be afraid to jump on their forums and let them know what you think is wrong and right. It can only help.

PS: Everyone is saying how the graphics on the 360 and ps3 suck horribly compared to the PC. I play on High settings on the pc, and yes it looks great. On the 360, it still looks great. Not as good or as detailed, but still 10x better looking then most games on the consoles.

Also, for myself, I have about 20 or so people to play on XBL with, and only 2 to play on the PC with.

Also, im not a fan of the battlelog browser launcher on the PC either, but thats just my opinion.

Unfortunately all of my friends are hardcore COD nerds who are close minded to new experiences. I have a few who said they enjoyed BC2, and said they'll pick up BF3 eventually. But all of my friends are seriously stuck on COD.

Which is funny, I'm sick of COD. Its super fun online for the first month. The second month gets boring and I quit before Christmas. If I ever try to return, I just find it to be not very fun because of all the exploits.

If you have a good video card and CPU, definitely PC. I tried the PS3 beta last night, and the PC beta just now. The PC version (running on a Q6600 quad core and GTX 470) looks and plays infinitely better that then console version.

And if you played a lot of BF2, then you'll know the best way to play is on the PC :)

That is how I feel! The only reason I kept playing BO was for zombies. The multiplayer gets stale after a month or so. The Single player is ok (I would mainly play it for the story). The survival thing looks cool i guess in MWF3 (or Modern Warfail 3 as I call it), but BF3 will last longer. I just won't pick it up untill it is cheaper. (I don't have very much money to spend on new games.)

EDIT: Man I had to edit so many things because my keyboard is sticky.
If you want friends pick 360. If you want 64 player multiplayer pick PC. If you want Single player flip a coin. Plain and simple.

I've decided I'll get it for PC. The few friends who considered getting it for 360 are for one, not getting it right away. Then they are also those types of players who will play BF3 for a few weeks nonstop, and then continue playing COD for the rest of the year. I am so over that series. Its still fun for awhile, while everything is fresh, however when I start getting used to everything (1-2 months), I get really bored of it because its literally the same exact game since COD4. The worst part is that some people deny that.

Anyway, I would just get it at launch. Because you know it won't drop in price (at least beyond the $10 sale they randomly throw around) until next summer. Usually if you preorder from Amazon or Walmart, they'll throw in a $20 gift card/promo discount.

If you're playing with a controller on PC you will get beat every time by people using keyboard/mouse. Just get it on 360 if you have to use the controller.

Well after playing both versions a little longer, and keeping an open mind. I decided to go with PC version as well. I just cant pass up 64 players. Time to get better with kb/m haha

PC if you have a rig that can handle it. Otherwise hold off until it goes on sale. The beta really wasn't impressive.

I play on PC and surprise, I use a controller. Some people might say "you'll get beat every time" but it seems I'm on the top of the scoreboard every time. If I can get over 30 kills and go positive with an M416 you can too.
beta was not impressive. i just cancelled my preorder. xbox
I dont want to try to preach my opinion on you, but you do know its a beta (from an old build) with a crappy infantry only rush map? I really wish they wouldve put out a conquest map with vehicles ect ect.
