Should I get Fallout New Vegas now?

Janaak

CAGiversary!
Right now with my financial it seems to be a good idea to grab this as it is $35 at Best Buy... But for what system should I get it also?

I have both a :360: and a :pS3:. Although my :360: will be in transit to the repair shop soon (HDMI comes as weak signal WTF?), this is the system I'd like to get it for and play on. I do not want to GameFly this cause I feel it's better to get the easier achievement/trophies first and Fallout is one of those games you want to relish in.

So should I just wait to buy it or for a GOTY version? And system?

I'd like to get in it as soon as possible. Thanks in advance.

get it now, Ive been playing for the past week and have a good 20 hours put into it. I wouldn't wait for a GOTY edition, and I heard Dead Money isn't all that great anyways. So yeah at that price I'd hop on it right away. If you enjoyed Fallout 3, youll have a blast with this one.

As much as I love the Fallout games and as much time as I put into them, I'd almost say wait for the GOTY version. You've already held out this long.

I haven't played it yet, but my brother has put many hours into it on the PS3 version (he doesn't have a 360), and he's told me that it's extremely buggy. He's into Fallout enough that he's been willing to play in spite of the problems, but he's not very happy. If they haven't fixed the issues by now, you have to wonder if they're ever going to.

I can't speak to the 360 version at all, but if it's anything like Fallout 3 was, it will be a lot more stable. I'd definitely go with the 360 version.

ive been playing the 360 version, and while i havent played the ps3 version, if the xbox version is more stable than the ps3 version must be near unplayable. im about 30 hours in and its a mess. in freeside the loading is forever, even after installing. in certain areas the framerate drops to about 5 fps, and ive had it freeze up on me completely about 10 times. you also have to watch out around rocks and behind buildings, as ive gotten stuck 2 or 3 times. even with all that, if you are going to wait for a GOTY version, the first expansion just came out, so wouldnt that be at least 4-6 months away?

If you want my advice, buy it now and save yourself the trouble of waiting for the GOTY edition. I have the regular version and I didn't run into any game ending bugs, just froze on me twice, but I had a save before then so nothing major was lost. If you save often then freezes or glitches shouldn't be a problem.

The first expansion came out and they have more planned so I wouldn't be betting on a GOTY edition soon anyway. Buy it now and enjoy.

Yup, that seems to be the best advice when it comes to playing either of the current-gen Fallout games -- save early, save often.

At least they're using a new engine for the new Elder Scrolls game (and, by extension, likely for Fallout 4 as well). Hopefully it will be a lot more stable and a lot less buggy.
