Should I sell my PS3 80GB (BC 4USB) for 300?

200STM

CAGiversary!
Hey CAGs it's me 200STM here and yesterday I was with my brother and we were on the hunt for a 60GB or 80GB (4 USB) PS3 that is backwards compatible. He found a 60GB at a gamestop but it didn't look too pretty; it was dusty, had scratches and the memory card cover was almost remove (only leaving a small flap of plastic). My brother was hell bent on getting a Bc unit like mine (I have a 4 USB 80GB PS3 that was a motorstom bundle). He wanted an all in one PS console and he also wants it to be his entertainment center too. My brother bit the bullet and bought the dirty looking PS3, he paid cash for it, it cost him 299.99 (with tax around 320 I think). We came home to where I live and I told him I would clean it up as best as I could. It didn't look to great still. He says he has a 30 day return warranty and told me he might just return within the time, I felt bad for my bro I was thinking I should just sell him my PS3 at the price he got his and use that money to get a refurbish PSP and a refurbish DS Lite.

ALL PS3's play DVD's/CD's and PS1 games out of the box, so the only reason to get a BC PS3 is for PS2 game playback and you can get a cheap PS2 on Craigslist for $20-40.

Just keep an eye on the Amazon's Warehouse Deals thread on CAG, as PS3 slims pop up on there all the time and sometimes they come in bundles with 1-2 games or a Blu-Ray or two for around $220-ish.

Best part is that the receipt from Amazon doesn't list a condition so you can use their receipt if you should need to get warranty service from them within the first year.

But if your brother should want a longer warranty, Sony themselves now offer up to two additional years for $60 total.

And whatever you do, STEER CLEAR OF GAMESTOP!!! Their 'refurbished' consoles are total pieces of shit that their prior owners likely traded in right before they were gonna die.

if you're not worried about playing ps1 or ps2 games, then go right ahead. but if you still have ps2 games and still play them, then keep it. it's true that you can buy a cheap ps2 but it becomes a hassle having to operate two consoles.

your brother shouldn't worry about ps1 or ps2 games. though there are good old games on the previous generation of ps consoles, no one really cares about them other than the collectors, who collect them and catches dust. there are plenty of ps3 games out in the market that he shouldn't find a game that does not entertain him.

Unless you're a hardcore RPG fan.

I have the BC 80GB model that came in the MGS4 bundle, and personally I still like to play my PS2 games on my old huge PS2.
