Should I trade my 360 in for a Slim at Gamestop?

I am considering taking advantage of Gamestop's extra $50 trade in towards a new system. I get $110 total trade in credit with the promotion, plus another $20 trade in credit on file.

They also told me they would give me $28 for my wireless network adapter, and I can also get around 15-20 for my 60 gb hard drive that I don't need anymore, cause I recently bought a 120 gb. So I could get the 4gb Slim for around $20 or so before taxes, and put my 120gb hard drive in there. I do have the Jasper model 360, and I hear those are very reliable against RROD. My concern is, that sometimes I get the open tray error, where it says that I don't have a disc in but I do, and I have to slam the tray shut to get it to recognize the disc. This happens rarely though.

Could I get banned from Xbox Live from using an old 120gb hard drive and putting it into the slim? I have heard conflicting reports on this, so I am not sure. Should I get the Slim? Thanks in advance.

The old hard drives don't work/don't fit on the Slims.

I would trade it in while it's still working. The new slim is so much nicer than my old 360, I also had tray issues and at at times the system thought I inserted a DVD instead of a game. In my opinion any old model 360 is a ticking time bomb, take advantage of the GS deal. As for the old hard drive, I used the 20gb one from my old model for a few month until I upgraded to the 250gb and had no issues with XBL.

Yes they do, if you take the old hard drive case apart and slide the hard drive into the slim.

My Slim started doing the same thing few weeks ago. It turned out to be the game itself, which was weird because not only were there no scratches on the disc, it was a three disc game and they all did the same thing. I exchanged it for a different copy which works just fine, and I've never had the problem before or since.
